ok, i have a th350 and a 241c that i was hoping to use together....after making some modifications to the output shaft (too long) i realized that they would still not mate up

i have an adapter to take care of the bolt pattern difference.

after talking to novak adapters, they say that my best bet is to go with another tcase, saying something like the short gm output shaft is the wrong spline count or something.

what do i do!?!?!

if anyone knows of this combo being run, how was it accomplished.

if this is not possible, then i need to start looking for another tcase. i do not however have much $ to put into this little set back. so, i would be looking to swap tcases or even throw in some other stuff in a trade. the 241 is a passenger drop but i dont specifically need that with a new tcase (if that is what i end up having to do) as i havent decided on a front axle yet.

if 241 came out from behind a 4L80e, TH400, or late 465 its probably the wrong spline count. also, what did your th350 come out of? a little more info would help us figure it out

the th350 is out of a early 80s chevy 4x4 van....that is all i know, the tcase is from a suburban. spline counts match currently, however length is the issue. i have no problem having the shaft changed, i just wanna make sure these 2 can work together.

the adaptor i have for them is 3.5" thick if that helps, im not sure what it is out of

Is the issue that the trans output shaft is still too short to engage the T-case?

i can see that happening because it probably came from behind a 700r4 and they do have a longer output than 350's do. i think you can use a 700 output in a 350 and vise versa but dont quote me on that. if you search on CK5 you will probably come up with an answer

the proble i have is that the output shaft was too long, so i shortened it...before i realized that the input on the tcase was gonna hit the spiral (speedo ?) gear on the tranny

so after calling novak to order their short (4x4) output shaft, they said this wouldnt work because of the spline count. what i am confused about is that the spline counts matched up before hand

You have the adaptor to mate the bolt patterns already, so why cant you just get the output shaft and housing from another junkyard 4x4 th350?

length problems.......why would i need another housing?

the adapter has a crossmember mount, so we can just use the block and tranny to fab up the subframe and whatnot

argh....who knows

Do you need to keep the speedo gear in the tranny? Can you have it machined off the output shaft? Can you machine the input of the T-case any? I mean, if it's hitting the speedo gear, you don't need it for spline engagement, right?

Does the T-case have a speedo output you could use instead? Oh - maybe the T-case has electric speedo output?

If you had not shortened the trans output shaft, could you have made a spacer to add to the T-case adapter to move the T-case back to work with the stock length output shaft? Would this get it away from the speedo gear?

Your spline count on the trans and T-case should be 27-spline, if you are talking to any of the adapter companies and they need to know.

first off, spline count is 27 on both, im not sure what novak was saying about something being different.

as far as the speedo gear goes, i have no intentions of running any form of speedometer

i guess the output shaft could be machined to have the speedo removed, but that would require it to be splined deeper...im thinking this route would be more trouble than it is worth.

as far as maching the tcase input, id like to stay away from that, id rather have an output shaft to deal with than an output shaft and a tcase input that it too short, ya know?

an additional adapter between my current adapter and the tcase would work as well i suppose.....however, cost is a bit of an issue here and if the machining starts running too high, then i would have been better off dealing with advanceadapters.com or novak im thinkin.......unless you know of someone who would do some custom work for me.....?
