transfer case fluid

can you run synthetic gear oil in a 89 np208 transfer case ? i do drive on road alot .

gear lube is to heavy for the chain and planetary gears, use a synth DEXRON replacement instead, as they use Dexron anyway.

gear driven t-cases like the np205 use diff lube. chain driven t-cases like the np208 use auto tranny fluid(dexron/mercon)
