Ok i have a manual 91 jeep xj, and i am having problems shifting gears when i have driven the 4x4 for a long time. it seems like my transmission heats up and swells so i cant get it into gear when downshifting or upshifting after 30 min of none stop driving on the highway. the xj only goes into gear when i turn off the 4x4 then its smooth.
I have already changed my transmission oil with a 75w 90 gl-5 oil, and the only thing that it did was the prolong the problem, it still seems to heat up and swell.
my question is what else could cause my transmission or clutch to do this. could this problem be my master cylinder ( i checked the fluid in the mc and everything seems to be in check), slave cylinder or a pressure plate problem?
