welcome
does anyone know if there is a way to put a th400 chevy trans in a jeep with a line6 or 4 liter. I know that you can get the adapter for a 700r4 but a was wondering about the th400.

I have to ask why? The AW4 used in the XJ is good for close to 500hp. Are you looking to mate a different type of T-case to it?

As BW said, I've heard the AW4 is very stout..

But, the 700R4 is a TH350 + overdrive, so I don't see why a TH350 wouldn't bolt up. the tail end is a little different, but the nose is the same.. I have no experience with a TH400.

I did not know how strong the transmission was. does you know what is up with the under age thing. i am 20 years old.

read the stickies at the top of the page... ;)

your under 21 thus your lable.

as far as the th400 i think in a jeep you'd be better with a th350, as its shorter in length and cheep and simple. Also the th400 saps alot more hp.

You can use an AMC TH400 (all over the place in 72-79 full-size jeeps) if you want to use a Q-trac or you can swap the tailshaft and bolt up a chevy transfercase. They will all end up as passenger drop front axles though.
