How long are they?
If < 16' or so, and only a couple, you can also get away with running them from the far back left of your cargo space up diagonal through and sticking out the passenger window, sticking out joisting style. You can also open the hatch so it sticks out the back.
I have brought home many 12' things from Home Depot in my Mazda that way ;-)
