ok, so unfortunately Im passing a kidney stone and jacked on the good stuff so Im taking time to sit down...

anyway, like I mentioned in another post, Ive got 'tons' of private property down east that has about 50/50 fields and timber/pine thicket. its way sweet to hunt on as its almost always soybeans. well the new guys that farm the place put out cotton this year and plan to do so often (fags!). I know the allure that apples and persimmons have on deer and I dont have them, but Ive got more huge/mature white oaks that I dont know what to do with- too many to hunt just one tree. what I would like to do is plant small persimmon and apple groves out there this year, but what else? what kinds of creeping berry vines would suit the rocky mount area (dry and sandy). Ive got a couple small creeks that meander through, so thats something else to plant in that would have some water year-round. what else do turkeys like besides chufa? is overplanting the vacant areas with clover as simple as it sounds? trying to keep food out all year thats not a 'food plot' as thats always been kinds pointless with beans as far as you can see. I want a more permanent type thing. trees and bushes just kinda do their thing. whats best? what would you put out / or NOT put out if you were in this position. cost is important but Im in it for the long term, so thats not a real big concern. cotton-planting farmer is buying this stuff!

Whats up w/ the stones man? Damn, I hate it for ya, you're like a friggin vulcan quarry.
oooh, I know...plant some vicadin bushes:lol:

Thats funnay right there

lab lab beans. or broadcast corn and climbing beans, you will be amazed. If ya every need another gun just ket me know. Dylan can drive and be the gun holder, safari style.

If you have mature white oaks your lucky that's a primary food source and they crave them before the rut, also excellent for antler growth. Try to figure out thier bedding area and route to the acorns. Also don't rule out the cotton they love it,then they don't have to wipe thier arse! On a serious note I have shot deer in cotton, especially when the cotton is young I thing they eat the tender buds. I have a friend who has raised several deer and fed them peanuts, but they constantly browsed the yard and even ate the rose bushes. Like us they like a variety. Good luck!

ever tried blackberrys?? sounds stupid but ive seen highways cut through them and scalped down both sides of it. but yeah find the bedding area to the oaks and put me ina stand ill find your big bucks lol

clover/chicory. works well. they don't seem to fool with the chicory till a good frost, but will continue to browse on the clover. winter rye is also good. if you can get your hands on some equipment, corn and beans. plant some apple trees. some nurseries have some that will bear fruit within a year.

Deer LOVE blackberries. At my grandfather's cabin he planted a ton of blackberries. The deer passed up all the apples and corn and shit he put out and ate every last blackberry plant. He even had cages around them, but that didn't matter, they got them anyway!

Less sugary drinks and better water...
