OK gang, had a leak in the pool to fix, sooooo this is late.....................:D
:D once again Triad 4WDA is hosting it's 5th annual Wrench & Swim at 5334 Jennifer Ct, Archdale 27263, July 29th, 10am til ?. (This is a FAMILY style event !!!) (High Point, NC area) Use Mapquest.com. I'll provide dawgs/kool-aid, but the grill is open for your own steaks, burgers, chicken, etc.
Salads, apps welcome. Air tools and a small welder will be available for your small project. We'll have many backyard mechanics on hand, just keep it simple. The guys kinda hang out out front and wrench/kick tires, while the kids/wife hang out out back grilling and swimming. Bring your wife/gf, kids, friendly dog (fenced backyard/dog friendly), swimsuit, chair, towel, cooler, small project, etc and join us for a family style 4x4 event. Adult beverages are OK.
No PUNKs please.

You know the punks don't know they are punks.....wait....Am I one?
Ok, this sounds like fun, Is it open to anyone?

Yes, it's open to anyone, but the 'teen' crowd prolly won't find it much fun. Lots of adults/parents/kids, etc. If one can act mature in that environment BRING IT ! You'll have an opprotunity to learn from some folks who have been doing this a long time. We've done projects in years past from OBAs and gear swaps to LED tail light installs. This is a chance to get that widget you've been meaning to install for the last year finally done. Bring tools if you have a project. You'll be able to get help, tips, a freindly hand, or just given a hard time/ribbing with your project. :D Many times others will step in and just 'knock it out' for you while you work on someone else's rig. One of my projects this year is to learn how to adjust valves on a 350 sbc on my own rig. This also is a chance to meet new to you 4x4 people. contacts. fabricators and generally people who can help you get your rig to the level you want. Even a little 'swap meet' has happened over the years. So please join us if this sounds like it's for you. You may want to bring a little cash to 'tip' someone who hooked you up with your project. Nobody's gonna charge you for any help, but it's a nice way to say 'thanks' to someone that goes out of their way to complete your project. A lot of talented people tend to show up. We do this because it's our passion and this is generally a 'free bee' from fellow enthusiasts. That's why I hold this little shin-dig every year. :)

I made it out for this 2 years ago before the army took all my time, i think I'll try again this year.

Just because she won't jump up into your Jeep again doesn't mean you get to grill her !!

i'm in, cleared it w/ the Boss. Unf I have not been able to convince her to join us, she is kinda shy, and timid about the idea of bein gaorund a bunch of people she dosn't know. I tried to convince her it'd be like "jeep-wives group therapy" but she didn't buy it.

Maybe I need to think up a project. Honestly I'd LOVE to get a rear bumper or rocker panel gaurds fabbed... but not sure if I can scrounge the materials by sat? i don't ven know where to get the stuff.

Q - just b/c i'm a pansy - should we assume this will be all outdoors workin'? And is there a rain contingency?

DUDE ! This is the perfect opprotunity for your wife to meet other wives/gfs. This is very much a social event to include family and kids. If she can cook, this is perfect for her to shine and make new freinds with her secret Dutch Betty salad-brownies-pasta-dessert-etc, or what ever. You don't even need to bring anything. I'm providing basic hotdogs/sweet tea/kool-aid. We have a 2 car garage with both "bays" open, a large pool (20x40, 86deg water temp), a 16x20 rear porch, 12ft picnic table and several patio umbrellas. This is the 5th year of doing this, so we have most of the details taken care of. Ask her if she'd like to just drop by for a few, if she feels comfortable, she can stay and swim/eat/meet/etc. You guys can even drive seperae cars, if she wants to leave early, just bring your swimsuits, just in case. We're not pretty, but we like to have fun. ;) There will be people here that can help you with your fabbing projects, so come on over and join us.
