How do you guys feel about truck bed trailers?

I need a trailer to put scrap metal in that I can haul off every month or so. I was thinking of taking an old truck, I have a turning the back half into a trailer to fill up and then just scrapping the front. I know it is far better than ideal but I just can't seem to justify tying up a trailer with scrap for extended periods of time.

A coworker of mine has a trailer like this I borrow sometimes. His is also set up to tilt. With the tailgate down and the trailer tilted its perfect to drive a lawnmower onto or 4 wheeler. I'll have to see if I can get a couple pics of it for you, if you want.

Seen a many of them. Tagged and legal. I plan on doing 1 or 2 myself for the same reason so I'm not held up with my truck. From what I gather, NCDMV has no problems assigning truck bed trailers vins for they are self described when you look at them. Nothing home made so to speak. Simple to build as well, just keep in mind for additional tongue weight before you make any cuts. If you notch the frame right, you can heat and bend and not even have to cut all the way to form your tongue.

That is the biggest issue I'm thinking of right now. I would like to use the frame section that goes under the cab as the tounge. Not real sure how that is going to work out until i get the cab off and this parted out. I know I am going to have to spend some money on some E-range tires but, i suppose that would be worth it.

I have had two, still have one. Work OK for what they are. Not as stable as a regular trailer, but that can be addressed

nothings sexier than a lifted MJ pulling a lifted MJ bed trailer....

It takes a little work but they work for what there made to do..And its cheaper than buying a new over priced trailer just to haul scrap..Take your time do it right and it will last ya.. Id go for a long bed if i was making one also.

You might check on the legality of them. Not sure where I was when I heard it, but they were making them illegal because no one ever checked the fluid in the axle and they would lock up. This has been quite a few years ago and like I said, I don't remember where I was when I heard it.
