truck box/grease tank idea

I went out today and looked at those half aux. tank half truck box's that Norhtern and Agri Supply sell. I like them but I dont like the fact that the "tool box" part of them doesn't continue out like a traditional truck box. I am thinking that I could find a steel or aluminum truck box for cheap on craigslist and have it modified to be what I want. Using a generic 60" long (on the inside of the bed) x 20" deep I figured that to hold 60 gal. the "tank" half needs to be about 11.55" tall and extend down to the "floor" of the bed. The only problem is that I can't weld worth a damn and am not that good of a fabricator... yet:) I know I would have to figure out where to put a filler neck, holes for lines and the heat exchanger, and probably a breather as well.
Do y'all think that this is a good idea and if so is any body willing to do the fabbing?
Thanks!

60 gallons that high and without a liner might be an accident waiting to happen. there's a lot invovled in making a tank.

I'd stick with a fuel cell that might be out there already. Without experience, fuel isn't something you want to monkey with or any flamable liquid for that matter.

just my .02

It's grease....If it leaks a little bit, you will never notice it beyond the mess you will make collecting...

Get your steel...go by Wake tech...one of the campuses has a welding/fabrication school...get someone there to do it for you...Or take a class and use it as your class project.

I take it this isn't the best of ideas? I figured it might be a bit cheaper to build a tank this way than paying the $660 for that RDS tank at Agri Supply plus I would get the design I want. But I am having a problem finding metal shops that could do it. I would idealy like to be on grease by mid summer so learning to fab and weld good enough for a tank is out of the question, I would like to get something started soon.
