I would like to hear from anyone here who has done a fiberglass tub swap in NC.
How did you mount the VIN tag and did you have any problem with inspection?
Here's the situation. I bought a 74 CJ6 with a rotted out body that supposedly came with a bad title. I was going to buy one of the nice aluminum tubs but yesterday I stumbled across a nice 4WD hardware fiberglass CJ6 tub and traded something for it (pretty much got it for nothing). I have not yet done any work on the jeep (original firewall is in place with original vin tag). This morning I took the title that came with the jeep to the DMV and applied for a NC title only (to see if the title could be made to work - which it did). Got that all done and the DMV lady told me that because the vehicle is older than 35 years it has to be inspected by the local DMV officer before the title is released and then it won't have to be inspected ever again. I am concerned about the tub swap and the removal and re-installation of the vin plate. Anything I need to know here?
Thanks
Bob
