Did anyone do any good today? This morning didn't look so good for me. I saw one track and heard nothing. I ran into two other guys on the same mountain as me. Later on I heard 4 shots (2 guns, 2 shots a piece) on the other side so I guess they did alright

killed 2 last weekend, called one in for my dad to miss this morning

heard three the first place i set up this morning. after the guys across the woods shot the flock busted and we left. we ran across a hen on the way out. after that we went riding around to some of our other farms an ran across a big tom with three hens out in a field. we snuck within ~120yds of them through the woods but once we got close to the field we couldnt get them to come our way. we tried to flank em but they saw us when we crossed the path and skedaddled.

bout to go wack some more crappie in an hour or two. me an a buddy caught ~200 yesterday afternoon so we're gonna try our luck again today.

took a couple shots at a group of 4 decent ones last sunday out my girlfriends parents backdoor but they were just a lil too far for her brothers 20 guage

i would edit that post real quick like. hens are a big no-no

If anybody kills one. Think about me. I will try to get away from Jonah for a one day hunt this year. If he gets better. I did kill a hen in January for the last winter season. its okay if I miss this season. They were will others.

We about hit one on the way to work this morning, lol. Stupid joker tried to cross the road right in front of us.

yeah we did, that fawker struggled to get airborne. He probably would've been turkey-ram-pie if the road was level. He basically jumped from the high side of the road, flapped across the road in front of my truck and landed on the low side. Not the most graceful bird

did any one hear about the hunter getting shot by the game warden?
Yep, and that sounds VERY sketchy to me. The guy was 77yrs old, nobody had a bad word to say about him and the wildlife officer says it was in self defense? :wtf:
Good luck to you all and be safe.

Worked the biggest NC bird I've ever seen for an hour and half this morning only to have him fly the river when 3 wild dogs ran up on him:kaioken: Saw him literally trip on his own beard when I got a glimpse of him at 50yds. Hung up at 40yds behind some thick stuff and spit/drummed/strutted for the next 20mins before the dogs showed up. I'm disgusted but it was an awesome hunt. Only a few times in my life have I heard a bird gobble that much for that long. I'll be headed back this evening praying that he'll fly back across the river, and I'll have a pistol on my hip looking for those dogs:shaking:

why not shoot when he was at 40 yards?

All I could see was tips of tail feathers at that point. I had a brief shot at 50 but he was headed in my direction.

I rolled a monster 3x in PA 2yrs ago at 35yds. Got up and flew away:shaking: Upon inspection the pinky sized saplings between he and I took most of the shot. Been using the same choke for the last 8 yrs shooting 3.5's and thats the only bird I've had to fly away, but I don't want it to happen again. The bird this morning looked like a damn blimp trying to fly, wish like hell I could have caught it on tape.

that sucks. Couple years back I had one hang and couldn't figure out why. Later on I went to check it out and there was a small creek with deep banks. It was too lazy to fly. I'm surprised yours did. They typically don't like to fly over water.
