I have a question! lol... My XJ turn signals will just stay on and not blink, they just stay on when I turn. I was wondering if every single bulb in the jeep is good, then what would cause my turn signals to stay on when I flip the switch, instead of blinking?

Also, my headlights will shut off and on after driving for various amounts of time, both bulbs are fine. what are some things I could start checking? This happens randomly and its VERY embarassing.

Thanks for the help

my t/s switch does this on my 98 TJ. Ive taken it out and blown the crud out of it and it fixed it for a while, but its doing it again. What year is your XJ I know in the later years they used the same t/s switch. Agood blast of air and some spray elect contact cleaner may help.

check the fuse panel (drivers side under dash) and make sure the fuse isnt loose. The fuse should be the one that says turn/BU b/c it also powers your back up lamps. You may just need to replace your switch all together.

my yj is doin this. my its only my left side though. however both of my tail lights are out also. is the t/s problem and brake lights linked?

I dont think so but Im no expert either.

As far as the turn signal goes it is the flasher. In my ZJ, I had to replace the flasher under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Not sure where it is in the XJ.

ON most cars if any one of your lights that will flash when you put your signal on, is blown, it will just light up and not flash. That includes Marker lights, rear brake/signal lights, front signal lights. Any one of them could be the culprit.
On your fuse block you should have two flashing elements. One is for the emergency flashers, and the other is for your turn signals. Most cars/trucks use the same bulb in the rear for both brake lights and signal lights, not sure about yours. So my first guess would be that you have a bulb blown somewhere.
As far as your headlamps go, It could be a couple things. I would check the relay for the lights, it may be getting hot and failing. Sometimes they will do that causing what you say. Could be a loose fuse(doubtful though) Could be one of the wires shorting out when you hit a bump or something, defiantly worth checking into. Could also be a bad ground. When I say bad, it could be a simple ground wire that has become corroded, or as I have seen, just barely hanging on.
I think somewhere in all this is where your problems are.
Good luck, just takes some time and trouble shooting, a test light or better yet, a meter is really helpful

I have the same problem with my yj left blinker. The front ds marker light doesn't work and I've replaced both bulb and the plug to no avail.
