I am still playing with this idea, so lets hear what you guys think, of my twin stick project for my Dana 300

2 weldable tractor heim joints drilled, tapped, and welded on the bottom where you see the bolt coming out

I still have to figure out how to run my sticks

Looks neat , but I would think you would need to allow for up and down movement between the plate thats fixed to your shift rails and the "bolt" welded to your rod ends...as the rod end moves in an arc and the shift rail has a strictly linear motion, the "bolt" on your rod end will move closer and further away from the shift rail through its range of motion.....:huggy:

that is something that I did not think about, that's what I need more of :D

That's what I was thinking too. Have you tried shifting it as is yet? If it works then go with it. The heims might also give you kind of a sloppy side to side movement with the shifter as well, otherwise it's a good idea. What'd you pay for those joints, or is that special golf course stuff? :flipoff2:

I havent tried shifting them as of yet

the heims should not move side to side, because they really cant with the bolt on the bottom being locked into a fixed position, and the main center bolt locked down

we will see, I really dont know how they will function yet

the heims came from Tractor supply, $5.68 a piece

a little more progress on the twin stick situation

I took an idea about using the sleeves, and it made everything very nice and tight, I used 2 old 5/8th spark plug sockets for the sleeves, worked very well

It shifts tight and very nice

I have heard of people taking the "pills" out, and or detent springs

Is this something I need to look at doing

I have noticed that the shifter that controls the rear axle shifts smooth, but the right side that controls the front axle is a little harder to get in gear

I think you're gonna take the skin off your hands with the shifters that close.. ;)

Might want to rethink the rebar also. From experience, it can get tough to shift, and you will bend it. Rigid flat bar will work better and not bend.

this is just mock up, I still have some bending to do

Chip you think the 3/4 rebar will bend that easy, I was thinking the rebar was stronger than the factory metal they made shifters out of

Mbalbritton, the heims were cheap, and it served the purpose

I think you are going to have a problem witn the bolt breaking that attaches from the joints and to the shift rods. good Idea though but I think you wil nee to make them stronger. Just think of all of the leverage when you have the Shifters on it

Rig something up that puts the bolt in double shear before you snap that aluminum off. I like the evolution of it though. How much are those weldable hitch points?

I dont think the grade 8 bolts will break, maybe bend a little

but it seems to shift very smooth, with little effort

those heims came from tractor supply, $5.83 a piece

Josh it looks madmax!
I would leave the pills in. it could save a costly mistake. I thought about the same but glad I didn't, t-case would have gone by-by a few times by now.
