I just installed a 203/205 doubler in my rig. PO installed 1410 yokes on front and rear outputs. The front is a strap style yoke. I have broke several straps in the past so I don’t plan to use straps.

I found these heavy duty girdles that take the place of the stock straps. They are pricey but wonder if they are stronger then the ubolt style. GLO Yoke Girdles

summit sells girdles for half of the price above but they are designed to take the place of the ubolts and use nuts and bolts. They do not fit the strap style yokes.

I can get a forged ubolt style yoke for around $100.00 so $80 for girdles sounds crazy but just wondering if anyone has used them and if they are any stronger and worth going that route.

You can maybe drill up the holes in your current yoke and use u bolts if the shank is long enough.. (just remembered, I used a DC yoke on the one I put u bolts in.. which that bolted from the back side to the DC joint)

I have not looked into this completely yet, but simply holding the ubolt up to the existing hole in the yoke seems the ubolt is not as wide as the existing holes so I can’t simply drill out the threads and use ubolts.

I saw the 'girdles' many years ago in a jp or 4wd magazine, moroso brand? The straps on a 1310(? Small xj/yj size) match the bolt centers on the straps.. don't know about the larger joints.. there may be enough meat in the yoke to machine out enough room for the u bolts to go through even if the u bolts are too short, but at that point, it's probably time and effort ahead to just change the yoke.

Been working on this with him too. Honestly drilling the holes out for the U bolts leaves so little on the outer edges of the yoke. I think it would be just as weak if not weaker than straps after drilling out the holes.
