Last time I went out with my buggy the ubolt that hold the ujoint on at the transfer case broke. From what I can tell the nut stripped off and allowed it to pull out and then chain reaction of damage. The 1310 joint appeared to be in good condition other than being banged up after it came loose.

So with that in mind I was wondering it I could get an upgraded ubolt? Maybe a hardened one? If so where? Also what's the thought about fine thread verses coarse thread?

If the nut came loose, try some blue lock tite.

Depending on the yoke you may be able to drill out the u bolt holes to go to bigger diameter u bolt that you could tighten down more.

x2 on the yoke drilling.

If I drill the yoke, then I'd need to find a ubolt with the proper bend. Where would I find that?

Thought about 1350, but I think that would be overkill as light as my buggy is.

I would just go with the 1350

Summit has some heavy duty caps. I am guessing the nut was over torqued or generic bolts. Going to replace with spicer brand ubolts and if it happens again get the caps.

To be 100% honest, I'm suprised your buggy only has 1310s with the beating you put it though. Not that it's a bad thing, but with those big (er) tires and the throttle you use, I'm suprised a 1310 has survived so far.

No you don't know me, but I've seen plenty of videos of you wheeling and lust a little over all of the funky colored buggys that are kin to yours. It's a Coleworx, yes?

Not sure, it may be possible to use U bolts from a 1 1/8 1330 U joint, it would be cracker patching but it might work. The U bolt could be the same diameter, I'm not sure.

Now...... You could drill out the strap and yoke for bigger bolts, but sometimes the straps are the weak links. If you had some steel chunks laying around and a mill you could make a kick ass strap fitted with bigger diameter bolts. Like having a bearing caps as opposed to straps.

Coleworx didn't build it. A guy out of Chattanooga did.

I bought it from a guy by the name of Buddy. He implied that he built it, but it looks like several others from that area and I didn't see a tube bender in his garage. I suspect he bought the chassis.

Same breakage just happened to me , went to spicer for joints and straps, cause of failure was cheap u boly with coarse thread, as said before, spicer is fine thread, use those and you will be good, I can get you the part # if you need
