Well... I was on the way to the 600 today and traffic backed up fairly quickly on 85. I was at a standstill in my 03 F150 FX4 and got nailed in the back by an uninsured mexican driving a Dodge 2500 TD. Lets just say the bed of my truck is in the shape of a U and my girlfriend broke her nose. I'm fine but will be a little sore. My truck is totaled.

This type of shit really pisses me off. I really wanted to go and beat the crap outta the mexican but had bloody friends to deal with.

There was another truck similar to mine that was involved too, also my friends. One guy had 9 staples in his head and a girl cut her foot wide open.

Mexicans walked away fine. :flipoff:

I will get some pictures up asap.

No, but I do have a problem with the fact they did not have insurance and you can't deny the fact that most of the mexican population do not carry insurance on their car. I was told this by State troopers and impound guys. It is a fact.

your right it doesn't matter that their Mexican because the fact is they come in from many countries. Lets just call 'them' illegal aliens. Aka the reason 'we' (aka people who do pay for insurance) have to have uninsured motorist coverage.

So did the cops collect their addresses or anything that the insurance company could be used to sue them directly ? Or is it just an everyday thing and no big deal ? (anyone know?)

I got some illegals for next door neighbors. Nice enough family, but I see them about twice a week swapping plates around on his work trucks. He'll hire somebody for temp work, temp worker drives up, they take plate off whatever worker is driving and put it on one of his trucks. A few weeks ago, one of his 2 1-ton duallys was wearing Tennessee semi-trailer plates. Grrrrr.

Cops don't care. He's all over town in marked company trucks and would be easy to nail...but I've talked to a couple of cop friends, they say it's not worth the time to mess with him, the courts would just let it slide.

I think you are confusing them with illegal immigrants.:shaking:

Uh, no. They come here and drive just like people do down there. The jerkoff that hit me in '01 was legal, but uninsured too.

Kind of makes you wonder if they know insurance is a requirement and not just an option. Sorry to hear of the misfortune. Hopefully insurance will take care of you and go after them.

Turns out the guy has a valid drivers license and had an insurance stop placed on his truck. It doesn't matter that he was a mexican but it is just all too common to see immigrants with no insurance on their vehicles.

btw, I do have uninsured motorist coverage. $100k per person/$300k max for medical stuff and $50k for property damage.

I should be good as long as him not having insurance doesn't affect my settlement payment. I think my insurance settles with me and then sues him for the money. Correct?

Also, anyone have a F250 (98-03) 4x4, xcab, pref. black for sale? Price range: hopefully under 20k.

that is alot of the problem. not really an exscuse though, it's a person's responsibility to be aware of the laws in the their place of residence. i think nc now requires anyone getting a new license to carry and show proof of liability insurance, which is good.

correct. goes to show how VERY important carrying as much underinsured/uninsured coverage as possible is.

well the truck that took the direct hit was a chevy 1500 and the frame is touching the ground under the cab...not to mention the bed and nose are demolished. I would have to say, if my friends and I had been in small cars then there would have been a fatality.

The dodge that did all this just had a punched in nose. Nothing else.

Correct, except your deductible amount will subtracted and your premiums are subject to an increase.
It sucks ass, a co-worker is going through the same thing. An old man pulled out in front of her 2 months ago. She was running 60 and veered into the bed/boat he was pulling.

He was cited (not in NC) and listed as at fault. However only had 10k in property coverage. And they were driving a new
EB Explorer that is now totalled.

Hrmmm.... any idea what tow company picked up the Dodge?

Hell yea, I'd go get his truck!

I worked at a salvage yard for a while and it was common practice for a couple of the guy's to get the tags off of the wrecked cars. One said he had not bought tags in over 5 years and he had multiple cars.

was the 1500 chevy bright red?

If so I know where it is sitting.
Already got an eye on the 5.3, if (when) it gets totalled.

Still searching for the CTD.

No, it was silver.

2001 Dodge 2500 is red, 4 inch lift, located at Hunter Auto & Wrecker yard on davidson st in charlotte. It is about 10 ft from the fence on the upper half of the yard if you wanna go look at it.

I already got the tag off my truck. The chevy 1500 isn't worth much...the whole thing is a twisted pile, engine is more than likely a goner.

My truck and the chevy were moved out today to private lots for insurance to look over them.

Yikes, that looks pretty bad. Thank goodness it was only a ford.
(j/k)

well it wasn't ONLY a ford. It was a Ford, Chevy, and Dodge.

Chevy lost the battle on this one...ofcourse it took the hardest hit too.

man that was one beautiful truck. i was in the same situation with a drunk mexican who didnt have a license but luckily the car was his friends and it had insurance on it
