What will happen if anything with the rear sway bar disconnected?

I know it should stay connected so it can act against the front. I'm asking because I'm missing a drivers side shoulder bolt and was wanting to go to URE this weekend, and it would be easier to disconnect the passenger side than it will be to get the bolt i need from the dealer.

Will there be any issues or problems? When I get the replacement shoulder bolt and nut from the dealer that will give me the opportunity to install my extended rear sway bar links, which I've been meaning to install for ages.

I don't have front or rear sway bars on my ZJ, no problems for me other than feeling a little tippy when taking turns on the street (my ZJ sees very little street driving though). You may also feel a little tippy on off camber climbs.

You will flop your rig and scratch the paint!!!:flipoff2:
Disconnect it, run and feel it out to see how it does....

Could I use a bolt OTHER than a shoulder bolt? Like get a grade 8 bolt the same length, fairly close to the size of the old one?

I don't NEED HELP floppin. :flipoff2:

I used to run with my rear sway bar unhooked all the time until I put an Auto locker in the rear. I had to hook my rear sway bar back up to keep from lifting the left front tire when turning left and accelerating. Since hooking it back up I have left it hooked even when trailing and have not noticed any difference in how my TJ flexes. But I have notice it is little friendlier on the highway with the auto locker.

If you don't have an auto locker in the rear I say unhook it and see if you like. I you so have an auto locker unhook it and you’ll see what I mean.

It's a Rubicon. Lockers on only in 4lo.

I know a lot of people with regular TJ's (myself included) run with no rear swaybar. I doubt you will notice the difference, except under acceleration on hard left turns. The front swaybars on TJ's are very stout and do the majority of the work anyway.

There's nothing magical about that bolt. Take a trip to lowes and replace it. That's what I did when mine worked its way out. It's been on for about a year now with no issues

In case anyone was wondering a 3 inch 7/16 bolt will work just fine as a replacement bolt. I erred long, and chose a 3.5 inch and washered, lock washered and lock nutted up, just in case.

I was thinking as a "shoulder bolt" the threads would be smaller than the rest of the bolt or the hole on the sway bar would be smaller or something stupid like that. THANKFULLY NO.

It was easier to replace the one bolt for now dure to weather. Once i have some time and weather clears I'll swap in my JKS extended rear swaybar links.

Edit: I'm kind of weary about off camber roll situations right now........for some reason.
