Ive got a set of 33x12.5 thornbirds and i need to get them unmounted because im selling the wheels separate. Discount tire wants 20 a tire to unmount them an im only sellin them for 25 a tire. Does have any advice on how to unmount them myself?

Got o Northern or harbor freight and get a tire mounter. It cost me abotu $45. It take some manual labor but isnt hard. And you need to hard mount it on the ground with concrete bolts. OR get some long tire spoons and a high lift jack. Remove air from tires, put bottom end of high lift on tire side close to the rim, and put the lift part fo the jack under a car/jeep/truck and raise it. The weight of the vehicle will break the bed, then use the tire spoons to remove tire. Unless you find somebody that has the tools, you will have to spend a little money and quite frankly it will end up being almost as much as it is to have them unmounted.

If time is money, every time I go to WalMart for tire service, I'm there for at least an hour. Add gas there and back and it about adds up to being that the tire tools could have been half paid for. I see those COATS tire machines for sale on Craigslist frequently for around $500 and wonder how many trips to WalMart would pay for one of those? Could just find a balancer to go with it, quit my day job and become a tire man. :)

Use a highlift jack to break the bead. Lay tire on ground and place base of jack next to wheel and jack away!

I've heard of people breaking the bead by driving another vehicle onto the tire sidewall. Of course when I tried it, I couldnt do it.

Sounds like you need to go to a small, locally owned shop to get them off, not a big "set price" chain store. If I had a machine in my shop, I'd do it for about $10 bucks because it would only take about three minutes! And that's $10 buck total, not each!
