Let's all post up what's broken on there rigs from this weekend.
bent frame
lost rear freeze plug
buckled roof
2 broke tow hooks
1cv shaft
will not go in gear
cracked windshield IMG_0290.JPG

Got a little sideways off a jump and I hit the edge of my tire on a tree. Now my rear axle housing is bent.

It's straight up until the link mount but it bends out after that.

Now I have rear steer.

If anybody has an fj80 rear axle housing for sale let me know.

I managed to escape with only a bent tie rod and a lower control arm mount moved to the right an inch.

Mine was all stupid.
Coming up on the ledge before kodak, I stalled it out. I grab for the keys to recrank it and realized that had fallen out, and looked everywhere and couldn't find them. I grab my pocketknife and recrank it, but it won't crank because the clutch won't disengage, which is why I stalled it to begin with, because when I pushed in the clutch to go from 2nd to 1st (still in 4hi), nothing happened.

I had a big hole in the tunnel where my shifters come through, so I figured my keys went through there and were on the trail. My fiancee/spotter walked all the way back, looking for them, and they never turned up. While she was doing that, I managed to get the jeep going and had to go down the trail and back to Arrowhead in 1st gear. Of course, some where in the course of the beating, the ground wire to my electric fan relay had ripped from the terminal, so the jeep found 260 degrees about 1/2mile from the campsite.

Once I got back to the campsite and settled down, I discovered the keys in the seat rail of the passenger seat. The problem with the clutch was found to be a missing rollpin where the fitting goes into the master cylinder.

All in all, it was fun, but Im kind pissed that a stupid thing like a roll pin ended it for me.

Haha, yea Matt, I was thinking WTF when I herd over the radio that you seemed to have lost your keys. I was up at kodak waiting to get some video of you tearing it up.

only breakage on the 58 year old suspension components on my 50 Willys M38 was a broken right rear spring u shackle that I think popped going around the tree/ledge prior to Kodak.

Oh and I broke my ass on that hard seat.Spotter sat on a cusion(wuss!).

This one was fan-friggin-tastic...

Took us a bit to get that catastrophe off the course.

Dangit, I logged on to start thsi very thread!

Believe it or not - we drive the $30 XJ home!

Only have 2 real known issues.
Lower control arm on pass. side got crunched up against the auto tranny lines going to/from the cooler, started leaking fluid... it was dry by the end of oiur run.
We managed to get it fixed within a few hours by cutting out the hard lines and plicing in some fuel line. Unfortunately, thsi took so lon gwe missedt he chance to do the second "kill it off" run.

Also have a killer power steering leak, looks like at the metal-to-rubber fitting right behind teh pump. It was leakin ga little beforehand, but now it spews.

I haven't given it a complete lookover yet though... but it drives just fine.

Oh yeah, the rear fenders did do some fabulous self-clearancing thank to the tires.

One bent beadlock, 2 RE joints. After everyone ran Saturday I drove back up to recover my rig, Oh my god I've never seen so many broken rigs littering the place in my life. It was like every 40 yards there was another dead soldier on the side of the trail. I felt extremely lucky to only have the carnarge I did after seeing some of the others. I think only 5 or so in our class actually made it to the finish line.

I wheeled Papa Jon's ZJ (Dk Green, Stinger, Swampers and 4 1/2 doors)for the weekend. I didn't race it but I did use the siren to clear the race course in the mornings. I ripped his rear track bar mount off twice and both times also busted the hard brake line underneath it trying to fix it. I also took out his driver side taillight. Everything was fixed at the stables. A big thanks goes out to all the stables owners and No Limit for use of their welder.

The carnage I suffered wasn't too bad, but I was pretty impressed with the accelerated wear I put on the front bumpstops. They were pretty new looking before the race...

I knew about a couple frame cracks, they are opening up a lot more...

My spotter didnt even realized this happened, but the seat used to sit in the upright position...
ai51.photobucket.com_albums_f363_RenegadeT_100_2388.jpg

At some point during my run, I started smelling gasoline. The gas tank must have taken a shot and shifted the sender; the rubber gasket/lock-ring seal was squished to one side.

I remember you guys coming up through Kodak. We were all having a laugh at your spotter because it appeared he was spending more time hovering over the seat than actually in it.

yeah dude but you won! who cares about carnage, even though you did have to run twice to beat me:rolleyes: just messin with ya, I really did not break anything except the motor(only knocked when you got on it before race) now knocks constantly and has about 1/3 the power and no oil presure, I'll swap you your motor for my t case:lol:

I don't remember ever touching the seat the whole run. Thre was nothing to hang on to. At laest Tony had the steering wheel to hold. :driver:

Was going to compete in the Rock Crawl but it was cancelled. Still I managed to roll over Friday morning and smash the front of my truck up and peeled the roof pan off. Later, a short in the ignition switch from lavish amounts of gear oil being deposited in the column prompted a bypass wire for the ignition into the cigarette lighter! Other than that, she ran flawlessly!:huggy: I'll get pics up shortly.

2 out-of-round wheels... (Would have been A LOT worse if those wheels weren't attached to Rockwells)
Oh, and I need to make a new skid plate. Whatever rock I came down on at Kodak bent the skid plate a good 2-3" up.

I left my buggy out of the rock pile to save it for the race... We had a very fast time going but the right front hit a rock on the landing of one of the jumps after Checkpoint 6 and sheared the 6 bolts holding to highsteer arm to the knuckle and portal box. We ran a while with no steering on the RF untill it locked up, then we drove in reverse untill it completely broke off about 100ft. from the finish line. It broke the rock into 4 peices and someone got it on camera in sequence pics. It was nice to meet everyone... Hope you all enjoyed the show!!!!
