Anyone going to be at URE those days? its spring break for my county and would like to take my son back up there for a day trip. Not sure if Im heading up Tuesday or Wednesday...it depends on the weather.

Dont want to be up there with no contacts. Ill be in an unlocked Tj with 33's....taking it slow and careful. Grayson is 5 so Im not heading up there to tear anything up....just have a great dad/son day on the trails.

Thanks!

I'll be up there with my 12 yr old son on Tues. rain or shine for a spring break trail ride. I'll start at the outpost at around 10:00 AM. I'll be in a green 98' TJ Sahara. If your going, gimme a call on my cell 919-306-5831 and I'll look for ya.

Hey guys!

Ive decided to wake Grayson up and surprise him with going up today (Tuesday). I dont think I want to be there after a storm (they say there will be bad weather tonight).

Ill be in a chillipepper red TJ with a spice top on 33's.

my cell is 9 one 9 - 6 two 5 - 3 six six 3

Ill have the CB on and scanning.

takes about 2 hours 45 minutes for me to get there...and plan to leave by 8.

be safe guys.

Mike....give me a call sometime if you get a free moment.

Well, we are back. After taking the long way there, and getting lost 2x....we got there about 1230.

Stopped by Eldorado and picked up a season pass and a hat for Grayson (they need to get some kids clothes in there).

Picked up a map and headed out the door....

Drove down Moccasin Crk Rd onto Dutch John....to the first trailhead we could find....Rocky Mountain Loop. Did RML with no problems other than it was slick...real slick. The last time I was there was about 2 years ago and it was dry as a bone....big difference when wet. Made the loop, jumped on Slab Pile, made that loop back to RML and back to the road. Grayson wanted a picnic by a creek so we headed to Dutch john Rd down by Haltiwanger for a lunch break about 2-ish. After lunch we jumped on Dicky Bell down there and took it across Dutch John Road and back up to the Rocky Mountain Loop taking another pass around Kodak Rock and back to the highway.

The storm started in on us as we went up Dicky Bell so it was really slick.

I saw 3 guys camped at the top of something (not sure what trail it was). 2 in WJ's and one in a Land Cruiser I think. Saw a couple of 4 wheelers and a motorcycle, but that was it all day.

All in all, it was a great day with my son. He loved it...even the sliding around sideways on the downhills.....

I didnt like being out there not seeing so many folks. I also decided I need to spend some good money on some additions to the jeep:

BTW, Im in a 4.0 TJ/Auto with 33X10.50's...on 3.07 gears.....unlocked.

Next buys....gears, locker up front and a winch.....

Thankfully, I didnt pay alot of attention to the map and difficulty levels or I wouldnt have taken the trails I did....but we took them and had a blast!

Looking forward to heading back down there soon!

Sorry I missed you up there. I got on the trail about 11:15. I made a run on the easy trails, Dickey Bell, Falls Dam, and Wolfs Den since I was alone and it was wet. In fact, that one uphill climb on Wolfs Den to the road almost got me it was so slick. We both had a ball.
