Well theres a good idea, I wouldn't mind that if people would not run me over while galloping up 49. Is it also true that you can not get a DUI on a horse?

When I get a beater car I will not trade it in, just take it to the scrap yard when it's good and dead. As long as it's still running is all I care about.

I won the money in a raffle so I will not be trying to recoup the money. It was a hard decision wether to put the money into a beater DD or dump it into the blazer but I figure that the gas money that I will be saving can go into the blazer fund.

Not sure how much $ you won, but maybe instead of the "Blazer fund" why not make the $$ work for you.

Oh, I am definately investing most of it. Also I am on a limited budget and this would leave me with more money in the end of the week if I could pretty much cut my fuel consumption in half. And also I can have some AC so it will make my commute a little more pleasant.

I bought an '08 Focus (5-speed) & knock down 35-mpg w/ mixed driving......I was gettin' 12-mpg w/ either F-250. It's just a base S model manual doors, windows, etc. w/ A/C, CD etc.

Long run, it's worth it to me & the wifey can drive it too instead of the Grand Cherokee (18-20 mpg).......I bought the Focus new & real cheap, what I save is gas will cover the extra payment & insurance it added (I drive alot).

A scooter would be fun, too.....but like awspence, I'm big boy @ 6'7" 290lbs - might kill it.

Well I work at a cafeteria in the auction. It is ADESA auction in charlotte and they will not let individuals bid, I will be standing there with my dealer and will pick out a few cars that I want and we will go from there. I talked to a family friend who is a dealer and he said that he would not charge me, but the auction takes a small percentage of the final cost and I would have to pay that.
 
I got my Grand Cherokee from an auction and it has been one of the best cars i have owned. So ya might get lucky!! Let me know how it goes or when you are going, my pops has a dealers license so we might be able to roll out there!

That's where I got the $500 Tracer.

You gotta look out, though, tehre's also a lot of CRAP mixed in there.
The jackleg that sold this Tracer was sneaky - drained the coolant and changed the oil right before teh auction.
Why? Blown head gasket. Can't really check th ecoolant on the spot 'cause it's already hot, oil looks fine, no way to know.... until you're 2 mi down the road and it keeps overheating, then you add some coolant, BOOM white smoke... bastard... but hey for 500 bines that's what you expect.
