Anybody heard anything about times from today, how well things are running, etc?

Im stuck at home trying to get the jeep together so I can go finish last in B-class tomorrow.

I dont know names, but there was ALOT of carnage. I think its bigwoody who decided he was going to take up forestry :driver:
See my thread in the past events section in a little while...

I just got back in town.
Downloading video and pics from the cameras now...

Carnage, indeed.
And yes, I didn't see it but soudns like Greg (Bigwoody) took on some reasonable carnage.
Maenwhile - $30XJ - driven home!!

i got a call from my friends danny and his gf jamie last night. he said he won the stock class but tore his jeep up pretty bad (red zj). i think this was only his second or third time to uwharrie.:driver:

the carnage of the tree photo doesnt look like thats going to help the chances of next years event.. somebody delete the evidence. :p

i'm dissappointed...

Me too.

More details later - but short story is, I had 2 runs to do.
1st run, I took it a little easy to learn the course (only 2nd time I've ever done this whole chunk of trail at once, and that was a year ago).
Unf I developed a typically minor/easy fix problem (blown tranny line) that kept me from being able to drive it afterwards. Took a few hours to scrounge the parts and fix it - but by then the A-class was over... so I never got to do the "kill it off" run.
VERY frustrating!!!

that was my #1 thought/concern over the event too since it's public land. obviously it wasn't done maliciously and was just a casualty of racing, but if a pic like that just starts floating around to the wrong people with no explanation it looks bad. maybe we could contain the event pictures to a private forum, only accessible by registered members? i guess it wouldn't completely eliminate the chance of problems, but it might help vs. out in public. we're already fighting a tough battle for tellico and the obx.

This has part of my concern all along, is the tree huggers blowing this all out of wack and really hasseling us over 4-wheeling and property destruction. That pic will not help. I hope this doesn't put in question URE like Tellico and OBX. I've said all along, Great Idea /Love the Idea/wrong place.

Get over the tree thing already. If that was the only eco-carnage of the weekend, that's a testament to how well this event was ran. Enough walking on eggshells because of the wacko tie-dyed tree huggers. We have just as much right to the outdoors as they do. We police ourselves pretty damn well overall.

Hey Matt, what was that I herd on the Radio about you getting stuck on the ledge, then losing your ignition key???

I was with race communications up on Kodak. We all got a laugh when we heard over the radio that he lost his key, but was continuing on with a pen-knife in the ignition.

Im just going to quit taking and posting pictures if everyone is going to get so bent out of shape about them. Yeah I know what the pic was and the damage was done by a truck.
What about EVERY other pic of trucks slinging mud, burning tires and breaking off chunks of rock on the trail? What about the pics of trucks I see on here climbing water falls and crossing creeks? I dont see how that is any different, but you guys seem to love those pics. Heaven forbid a tree fell over though.

Awesome time guys!!!

Any damage to the tree population is certainly offset by the volunteer work performed by the people on URE work days! IMO.......

im sure that not the first tree that been ran over at uwharrie. anyways i had a blast. the best time by far i have ever had at uwharrie. i hope everything went good with the locals and rangers so this can happen again
