Any options to convert v-belt York to a serpentine clutch besides spending $150 new?

If its got a 6 rib GM style ehhh.. not really, there was one magical year on a few vehicles that is rumored to have had that setup.. before they switched to the rotory pumps..

Had I not already had a good york, I would have just used the factory rotory pump... But i bought the kilby pully and kilby SBC bracket and its looks and fits nice.. Just wasn't cheep :)

I still have the factory (1989) rotory pump on it, but is it worth a shit? I've seen similar run, all seem to have an oiling issue, but using an old snowmobile primer pump could be a good way to keep its lubed.

I got the york. Clutch bolts on with a 4-bolt square pattern. To mount it i'd retrofit a newer cast bracket with a flat top mounting surface.

I found a pulley off a big diesel motor (think 18 wheeler), was an older Ford, can't remember the brand name on the motor. Bolted right up to the existing output shaft on my v-belt york.

There is a place in Charlotte that may have what you need. A buddy of mine is doing the same thing and they said they can help. I'll talk to him tomorrow and let you the name of the place.

take the v-grove pulley to a machine shop and have them turn down the center to fit a serpintine belt. i have two yorks now that started life as a v-grove. ones on my jeep running like a champ the other is sitting on a shelf waiting for me to install on the wifes jeep.

anyone have a 2-groove v-belt pulley they want to get rid of? I need the smaller one The only one I have left is a huge one. need the smaller one so the york will turn faster.

could you post a pic of what how it came out after it was turned down to fit a serpantine belt? sound very interesting!?! Might be a "new trick" for all of us!

what did they charge you to turn it? I like this idea.

ingenious! I design belt drives at work, and there's no way I could release that on X0,000 trucks/year, but on my own junk...:wheel:

I'm glad to see an engineer whose got his priorities straight!

the first one i had done was like 15-20 bucks, this one i had the hook up and did cost anything. either way it's a lot cheaper then buying a new one, just remember if your going to go through the trouble of haveing the center turned down toss in a new set of bearing s while your at it.

Thanks man. $20 is a good number!

one last note before every one heads down to a machine shop and has there pulleys worked on. i have no idea if you do this if it will align up with a pre-packaged bracket kit, like Kilby's set up. i ended up building my own bracket and was able to get every thing straight on my jeep. it's worked for 4 maybe 5 years now with out any issues so i think i'm doing pretty good.
