I am looking at getting a 250 V10 can anyone with an ideal give me a clue to the mpg. i looked all over the net and it not listed anywhere.

some kid around here has a v10 ranger but i dont know if he swaped it or bought it like that i just think a v10 in a ranger is badass

well ever one i talked to says around 10 12 town and 15 highway. dang thats really bad would the V-8 get about like a 150 V-8

Just for comparison...

A bud's '01 F250 4x4 Auto V10 w/ everything Banks made (intake, FI, header, exhaust, engine & tranny chips)...

Hauling 2 Jeeps = approx 9000# on a highboy construction float = approx. 4000#... got 4MPG between Clayton, GA and Blairsville. About an hours drive on roads that make Hanging Dog Rd look like super highway

So basicly everyone is saying stay away from a 10. i am not even going to be pulling anything. like the body style and dont want a desiel.

Remember the F250 was meant to work not be a taxi. The V10 will out pull the 4.6 or 5.4. The PSD will perform better in heavy towing situations, but I believe the V10 will hold its own.

I work with an older gentlemen that bought a V10 F350 dually new a few years back. His is a 5spd crew cab. He tells me he averages 12-14 empty and 9-10 pulling his tractors. I don't believe these numbers are far off of what the average diesel will produce. The fella says he has no trouble running the speed limit on any highway with a load. Though he said he can't run 80 mph up fancy gap like the PSD, but do you need to run 80 mph up fancy gap?

In my Excursion w/ the V10 I get 10-12 around town, 6-8 towing about 6k lbs and 14 over the road and not loaded.

Towing I can run 70-75 mph, just takes me a minute to get up to that speed. Going up 321 between Lenoir and Blowing Rock I can get up to 30-35 MPH...

The truck is heavier than a standard pickup so it won't get as good mileage empty. The ride and the amount of room is worth it.

I have a buddy with one and he had 37"s on it and was getting 6/9. Now he has put it back on stock tires and he says he is getting 11/16.

I had a stock 6 speed with the 5.4 and it struggled to get 13...

I have a 2000 F-250. Realistically I average around 10 mpg, but do very little highway driving anymore. When I drove the highways more, I was usually towing and don't remember getting any better than about 8-10.
Empty on the highway, you can average 12-14mpg if you cruise at a reasonable speed.
I have 3.73 gears and stock size tires.

At the time these things were made the average price / gallon was around $1.40, so fuel economy wasn't a major issue. These thing pull great and I averaged just slightly worse mileage than my dad's 99 PSD.

BTW....it's listed in the for sale section. I upgraded to a crew cab.

Fuel mileage

Ive got a 250 with a 5.4 6 speed 4 in lift 36 tires and 3.73 gears it get 15 city and its just as strong as my buddys v10 pulls my 3000lbs truck around great. But opinions are like assholes everybodys got one?

My trailer weighs 3K empty...My Bronco tips the scale at 4200 lbs. I pulled it with a '05 2wd Hemi with 3.92 gears and only managed 12-13mpg.
