I am trying to get the vacuum disconnect to work on a 1993 YJ. I replaced the disconnect with one that I know works, and still nothing. The vacuum hookup on it pulls vacuum on the one towards the drivers side no matter what position the 4wheel drive selector is in. The vacuum does not change from 2wd to 4wd to 4wd low. Any suggestions?

Get rid of the vacuum engange stuff and get a posi lock kit, or make something similar to it so itll work.

Posi-lok, so you'll know for sure that it's locked in.

X2, on the posi-lok sqrl$$. Had mine for two years works great. If you go with this, the instructions are ample, but there are better ones. Google posi-lok, & you will find the info. be sure to adjust it properly. There are many drawbacks with the vacuum system. Foremost would be, the plastic lines, are able to withstand any automotive chemicals. Well, that said they are not able to withstand battery acid, at all. AMC decided to run them under the battery tray. The reason, is probably the only place to mount the vacuum reservoir. If you really want to keep the vacuum, here is the diagram

check all the lines, for proper connections, and for leaks. If they are brittle, or cracking you could be in for a fun time, The cable set-up wont let you down, when you really need it.

If you must repair what you have for now, go to Autozone, look in the "HELP" section where they have all the misc parts. You can find the vaccum switch that goes on the t-case for abour 10 bucks. Thats what fixed mine several years ago when i had the same problem you are describing. Your best bet is to go with the posi-lock kit though.
