Vehicle registration sticker question

Here`s what happened. I get my sticker in the mail last week and I go outside this morning to stick it on. I wipe the tag off till it`s good and dry. I VERY carefully peel the sticker off the card, making sure I don`t get to much of my finger on the sticky side so this thing stays on where I put it. It`s a little windy out this morning and just as I go to stick it on the tag the wind blows it off my finger and, you guessed it, sticky side down onto the damn bumper! Tore it trying to get it off so I left it alone.

What are my options?

A: Go by the tag office and explain to them what happened. See if they give me another one?

B: I don`t drive the truck everyday so maybe just continue driving and if I get pulled over for it just show the officer my sticker ON the damn bumper and show him my registration forms and receipts? Or

C: Suck it up and buy ANOTHER damn $20.00 sticker?

You might be able to get a lighter or something behind the bumper to heat it up and peel it off.If I was in your position I would probably just leave it there :D

Got to DMV office, tell them your story, I think you can get another sticker for a reduced cost, as they will have record of you aready having paid your dues for the year. Take a picture in with you, maybe they'll actually act sympathetic when they print the recepit.

Expect it to cost you at least $10.

Obviously the best course of action would be to get a new sticker to put on, but it is not something you "absolutely" must do. You have a copy of the registration that states the effective period for your tag, just make sure you keep that with you in easy reach. You will probably get stopped several times during the year due the displayed expiration. However, most officers will run the tag through DMV before stopping you and will see that you are in good shape. Even if they do stop you, you will have the current registration documentation that shows you are fine. You should not receive any autographed documents due to the tag.

Of course, for just a few dollars, you could get a new sticker and avoid all the above. It all comes down to what Clint Eastwood would say "You feel lucky.....punk!" :flipoff2: :D

Thanks everyone for your help

I only drive the Taco on the weekends now that I have a company van. :driver:
I figure if I only get pulled over once a weekend then 52 times is an acceptable amount. :D (j/k)

also concider this too......Everytime you get stopped, there is another oportunity for the LEO to find something else that may be wrong. Bite the bullet, get another sticker, so the LEO can watch the ricers

I`m sure a LEO can find something if they really want to but everything works the way it`s supposed to and everything is on it that`s supposed to be on it (i.e. mud flaps.....well not the fronts) :)

I`ll probably end up going to get another. I was more or less just pissed at myself for dropping a $20.00 little pos sticker!

Can you tell them your old plate was damaged and that you need a new plate? New Plate = New Stickers.
If I`m not mistaken a new license plate costs the same as a sticker.
