After a few discussions with several of the vendors, and complaints about backyard vendors, we’re re-vamping the vendor section. First we’re not going to have ads on the board. No one likes them, including me. But I think with some changes to the rules, you will have a more latitude in using the section.
All vendors have been moved to donating member status, this shouldn’t be a big deal since you shouldn’t have been both, we didn’t charge vendors for the donating fee, just the vendor fee.
First, we’re raising the vendor fee to $50 per year. This is cheap advertisement. The board should benefit from it, and it should weed out some of the backyard vendors. Possibly this will allow us to lower the donating membership fees. We’ll increase your PM box to 200 PM’s, and let you put a banner ad in your signature. We’ll free up the vendor section to let you put in as many posts as you want. Your diamond next to your user id will be yellow instead of orange.
That being said, there will be some rules.
All vendors will be donating members first.
To become a vendor, you will need to contact me either PM or email. And submit a tax license to be verified by me that you are a legitimate vendor or scan and email, or fax a copy of your business license. Once I verify it, I’ll contact you with a link to the subscription to paypal, once the $50 is paid your status will be changed. Please be patient, I don’t have board access from work so I’m usually only on early mornings and late evenings.
There will be no constant bumping of posts. We’ll deal with this on a one on one basis. What I mean is we don’t want to see the vendor that just bumps his posts above everyone else’s all day long. Most vendors don’t have the time to sit in front of a computer. Be respectful of other vendors and use some common sense. If we see a pattern here, you will lose your vendor status and forfeit your $50.
No “call me, we can help” in tech, if you have info that will assist, post it, do not troll for business in the tech sections. We want our vendors to be active in the forum and help when they can. Most of the people here are the “do it yourselves” type of people. The best way to get your business recognized is posting and helping people. They will remember that.
No PM box spamming. If I get complaints that you are spamming PM boxes, you’ll lose your status and forfeit the $50.
The best proof of being verified is if one of the admins or moderators know you personally. Contact one of them, they will forward your information to me.
Definition of a vendor is anyone that has a business, and comes to this site to pimp their business, selling a service or product to members of this community.
