W-56/G-52 tranny and t-case questions.

Ok, I want to get this perfectly clear.

Will the shifter off a G-52 work on a W-56?
YES The bend is a little different, but it will work.

Will the t-case that is behind a G-52 work behind a W-56?
YES, WITH MODS, G-52 trans is bossed for the T-case shifter, so the rails are longer on that trans /case combo, to make case work from G to W you have to change the shift rails and I think the forks then mount the shifter boss on the T'case. As pointed out, look at the Marlin stuff, it 'splains it all.

If the t-case will not work, then will the shifter off the G-52 t-case work on a W-56 t-case?
YES, BUT YOU HAVE TO USE THE G-52 TRANS SHIFTER TOO

Again, the bends in the G-52 shifters ( trans and T-case) are different as the positioning is a bit different in the vehicles ( not much, but enough)
Has more to do with the case differances.

either behind a 22r or 22re is fine and will hold up
the g52 is a weaker transmission FYI
and behind a bigger engine will break
they will only handle about 140ft/lbs of torque
I have broken three g52's behind a buick v6
so I know from the school of hard knocks

but hey I also broke a w56 as well
so neither will handle a lot of bottom end torque

but a beefed up 22re with lots of goodies on it
still only pushes the 140ft/lb range.
but go with the w56 if you can just for the extra beef

hey and marlins will give you all the info you need to change the shiftrails out on the t-cases
