Waggy carb question

I've got some questions about a Waggy I'm looking at buying. It's an '87 w/ the 360 that's been sitting for a couple weeks, but was previously a DD. The truck is hard to start. You gotta give it a ton of gas, and it won't stay idling if you let off the pedal. I drove it around and it acted like it was running out of fuel even though it had some fuel in the tank. Maybe just a couple gallons isn't enough to pick up a decent flow... I dunno.

Owner says his mechanic said it could use a rebuild. And he said it's got a new fuel pump in it.

What should I check out first in the fuel system?

I am taking a guess here

but I am assuming it's a mc2150 or mc2100 with a 1.21 venturi

good carbs both of them, very easy to rebuild

that is where I would start

If you haven't already, check out ifsja.org. They're probably the best Full Size Jeep community on the web. There are lots of folks there who can help you out with Wagoneers, J10s, etc.

X2 Rebuild the carb, they are horrible power-wise on the 360, but easy to rebuild. I never got mine running perfect. Next owner said it was partly the exhaust clogged up that was causing the carb to run bad. You might want to think about upping the ignition system too and get rid of the points. That made a huge difference.
