WANT to get in to rc crawlers

Oh man I just started getting in to the RC world about three weeks ago I already have three RC's I got a E firestorm off my buddy, then I get a Traxx Stampede, and today while putting in a brushless motor in my stampede I got a Venom creeper Safari. RC is so addicting!

Its not that hard...I'm still fixing up my E Firestorm. The Hobby shop I go to is extremely knowledgable. Plus the internet/Youtube is an amazing site!

Want mine? It's just missing driveshafts? Easy to find. .................
;)

That said, what are you looking for scale crawler? Comp Crawler? What's your budget?

Also do you want to wrench on it yourself? Or have a ready to run? I like the looks of the new Axial Ridgecrest coming out soon. If you join tower hobbies for 10$, you can get a 50$ off of 250, and then it's 260 for fully RTR. You'd shortly want to ugprade the steering servo, and go to lipo batteries I bet. :)

hscrugsby is right (btw I didn't find any extra drive shafts short of stampede ones). What do you want to do?

rccrawler.com is the place to check out builds etc. as well as the local ncrccrawlers.com. Head out to a comp and chat with the guys-great group and lots of information.

(the stampede ones I might end up going with, just can't find the knuckles to use them with axial transmission local. and in theory ordering online, might as well get the "right" shaft. Not that much more.)
I had planned on more comp side then I REALLY liked the look of the gmade R1, so was looking for one of those, then saw a wreckluse build, and decided that was what I had to have. Found one, that was "almost" ready to run, just needed electronics and drive shafts. turns out, the suspension was setup SOOO wrong, nothing would work. The shocks were mangled, (he actually apologized for shocks as he didn't realize that cause he had never done anything till he went to ship it. I didn't like the shocks it had anyway) So LOTS of hours later, I think it will be good once I finally get drive shafts in from somewhere. :(

I just bought a Wraith and am a total noob to the RC world. I love it. I wanted something that looked somewhat realistic but had some crawling capability too. Its not the best crawler and not the fastest but a good hybrid in my opinion and it was RTR which was a big plus.

Best thing you can do is regear. I put a 14 pinion -87 spur in mine. It cut the speed in half but it crawls like crazy now and I don't have to worry about high speed barrel rolls.

What should i look for and buy?

What is your price range? I have a nice AX10 tube chassis crawler I bought for Christmas but never seem to have any time to mess with it. I love it but just never have any time.

rc is very addicting. i had a extensive collection then i traded some for a mgt 4.6.....you are going to invest a lottttt of money and time into anything related to rc. that a fact.

the website of choice for me is CKRCCrawlers.com....it has tons of aluminium parts and kits at verey reasonable prices.

Yea. There is an almost rtr wraith on rc crawler.com classifieds right now up in hampton roads. They look and sound like fun

i have an axial wraith and so far im not pleased. if you compare to a real jeep you will be let down tremendously. screws on the steering knuckles always back out, the ESC is very finicy, the motor is a mix of over and under power, the half shafts/ drive shafts will twist and warp beyond repair, and tires and foams are way too soft even for a crawler. i just dont want anyone to waste money on something they wont like or wont put time into but if you ver need help with rc then im the guy so just hit me up wiht any questions.

you will need batteries for the wraith but i dont suggest the wraith bt if you do get it then you will have to get a 35T motor or higher because the 20T is under/over powered its a weird story but its true

So all the other RC cars don't need batteries?

I have a Wraith, I run a 2S lipo with the stock 20 turn motor and just changed the gears to 14-87 because the factory are to high to crawl. It crawls great and has plenty of wheel spin due to the lipo battery. I haven't broke a single drive train part. The thing works great right out of the box with just the gear mod. I'm not saying it's perfect but it is a great mix of both crawler and basher that also makes a great scaler.

Aftermarket part selection is awesome. I have added alluminum c-hubs and knuckles from Hot Racing. I built my own lower links from threaded rod and aluminum tubing.

Why buy a mini and then the Axial? Why not just buy the Axial?

x2
i have pretty much the same setup and it works great!
i have broke 1 rear driveshaft but that was due to carpet wheel stands with a 3s lipo.
