Water fall in my cab

I know you guys are probably going to think heater core with this problem, but I am not so sure.

I got in the truck this morning on the passenger side and turn the key to get the glow plugs going ('98 Diesel Suburban). All of the sudden, I hear water falling through my dash by the glove box. (I hadn't started the truck yet.) I went around the drivers side and looked over to the passenger side floor board and there is about 1/4 gallon of clear water on my floorboard. There is absolutely no hint of antifreeze in this water. My coolant reservoir looks good too.

Water in the floor board is typical of a leaking heater core, but I am not seeing any other signs of a leaky heater core (moisture coming throw defrost, sweet smell, etc.). What do you guys think? I wanted to check with y'all first before ripping apart my dash.

My truck has been sitting for a couple of days in the ran facing down hill. Do you think some rain made its way inside? Any ideas on where a leak may be? Anyone know if this model truck has had problems like this?

Thanks in advance!

I dunno about specifics for that model year, but I'd start by making sure that the cowl vents were working properly, and that the windshield seals were in good shape.

Last time I had water running inside the cab it was from the cowl vents drain hose being clogged up.

I would think you can eliminate heater core, since you said the motor hadnt started yet.

No motor, no water pump (unless you have aftermarket electric) no pressure to be heater core issue.

My quick thoughts would be

#1 previously mentioned cowl vents. If it rained and was facing downhill there would be much rainfall run off hod down windshield into cowl area, a clogged drain....and the vent becomes a nice escape

#2 a leaky windshield that water is running down and collecting in the dash then when you, but if it filled the floor before you moved the vehicle...I really question either of these...

the condensation house from the ac system can get clogged and dump water into the cab. strange that it would have happened right when you were about to start it though...

Maybe as he hopped in, a bunch of standing water sloshed around from the suspension movement?

It was very strange how it happend right when i was about to start it. it could have been standing water that sloshed around when i hopped in. I didn't have time to check it out tonight because my other car had a flat tire, but i will try to check it out tomorrow.

I did pour a gallon of water down the windshield, but got nothing in the cab. It may be the condensation house from the AC, but I have quite the pool of water after I have stopped for a few seconds underneath the same side.

Thanks for all of the replies!!
