Hey guys looking for some help. Please read entire post.

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. Great car no major issues. Lately when I accelerate from a dead stop or make any type of sharp turn, I can hear some sort of fluid going from one side of the car to the other. It sounds like it is maybe near the firewall. possible on the other side?? I was told that it could maybe have to do with condensation from the AC, and that the drain line could be plugged.

Any ideas? Anyone ever have this problem?

Also, just noticed last night that when coming to a stop I hear a grinding (wheel bearing?) noise and I can feel it when I push on the brake. I do not believe that it is the brakes, I just replaced them about 5 weeks ago. It feels like it could be a bearing. It did not repeat this morning.

Is it hard to change one in a front wheel drive car? Cost?

Thanks, Andy

Check your Coolant Level. I'm not familiar with the GrandPrix, but I had that in my ZJ when I got it. Apparently my Coolant was low enough that some cavity (I'm assuming Heating system behinid dash) was sloshing coolant around.

Sounds like your drain hose from your heater core box may be plugged up and the AC condensation cannot drain out. Look under your glove box, and peel back the top of your carpet slightly. You are looking for what looks like a vacuum line (about 1/2" dia) coming off of a black plastic box and going through the firewall. Disconnect the hose and use something like a coat hanger to fish around into the nipple coming off the box to dislodge the blockage. Warning you may want a cup to catch the water that will drain out. The blockage is sometimes caused by ice forming from moisture in the AC line.

not sure about newer models, but,....
check door and quarter panels. most have drain holes. rain can accumulate when leaves, dirt and so on builds up and blocks drainage.
you should hear the noise when turning one way or the other, every time, not just every now and then. could be as simple as a pebble between the rotor and dust shield. take the wheel off and check it out. front wheel drives are usually a pressed bearing. hope this helps

Grand prix is a unitized bearing IIRC. just unbolt the three bolts on the back of the spindle and you are good to go. I would recheck the brakes to make sure nothing is loose or overlooked. The noise you are hearing is most likely brakes because you only hear it when you apply them.

The heater core may be leaking into the airbox under the dash but, I agree with the A/C drain being plugged as your most likely culprit.
