I will be the first to admit I am not a "hard core" wheeler so to speak. But I try to at least make it out to Uwharrie a couple times a year, and as of this last year about at least once a month to wheel my truck (if not every other weekend). And I don't get stupid with it either, I ride the trails, have fun, and do try to challenge my vehicle (on Daniel, Kodak etc).

I understand there are people building rigs/projects and they may not get to wheel as often (heck every rig is a never ending project). But then you have the web wheelers. Which usually isn't a bad thing. People that have rigs (Stock or modded) that don't wheel their trucks but just post about wheeling etc. Like I said that is cool, at least they are showing an interest in wheeling.

But what is starting to annoy me is when people that don't wheel start trying to tell you what to do with your truck, give advice based on no experience what so ever etc. Or they make jokes/comments about your wheeling experiences/etc. Most of the time I just ignore it, just let it go and keep on going. But at some point it does start to get annoying, especially if you are trying to post something productive (a write up etc) and they are just de-railing the entire thing.

Its not that big of a deal in the end, but its just one of those little irritating things that you can only ignore for so long some times. :shaking:

I agree with the OP.

I have a build going here and I mirror it on Pirate (Non-Hardcore) to get advice, suggestions, and maybe someone else some ideas. The ones that get me are the ones that insist that you must run 1 tons and a V8 in order to wheel and your stupid if you even consider wheeling a D30 on a 35s. Of course I have no issues with criticism, Most of the time it is helpfull in pointing me in the right direction.

So all in all I guess it comes with posting in threads there will always be naysayers. But it is a bother.

Just My 2 cents

I agree with ya man. The 3/4 ton D44 under the front of my K5 half-breed is still alive, and I've been running 37's on it for a long time. If that isn't bad enough, I still have the factory u-joints in it, factory steering (raised steering arm, though), and it's the old external style hub. I'll run it until I see a need to change, but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen any time soon.

For only $1500 in this truck, I have more fun than guys do with 10-15K invested in their rigs because I don't care if something happens to it.

It is hard to resist the urge to put flashy stuff on it and take advice from others, but if I like the way it works, then that's how it's going to be.

I just never have time to go wheel.
Of course that being said, if you're kind of stupid like me, wheeling a d30 on 35" tires I guess IS a bad idea.
:(
oops.
Oh well, I'll eventually get caught up, get ECG to fix my differential issues, and then trash it again. :D

Good luck, and remember it's the web. Forums bring out the idiotic asshole in the best of us. :D
(and if you started out as an asshole, it gets taken to a WHOLE new level.)

To those who can't go wheelin..I will make it my goal to go wheeling enough to make up for all of your web wheeling.

Welcome to internet forums....

Hah I was thinking about this the other day.

I have a samurai and I goto the samurai forums and see all these awesome rigs, coils 4 link this that 38's fresh paint perfect bodys... then I sit back and wonder why I cant have something that nice, Get to thinking.. hell they have a perfect samurai they never use cause its so nice. (this goes more to jeep owners but theres a few sammys in this situation)

also I would not even need HALF of the parts they need, I live in wilmington NC if I want hills and rocks around here most of it is man made :p My rig is a trail rig I dont need 38's on yota axles for what I do with my truck it would never take advantage of most of these things. But looking at others with them sometimes makes me want what they have haha.

I haven't put one tire on a trail in about 5 years mainly due to the fact that my old jeep crapped out on me and I sold for $200 bucks to get rid of it. I have another Cherokee now but I cannot afford a lift, tires, gears, and pretty much anything that comes with being able to wheel let alone the gas price to drive back and forth to the trails. I want to go crawl on some rocks so bad I can taste the grit when I think about it :( . We have a ZJ here with a small lift and 31's but it can't be driven because of death wobble and some other problems. I try to give advice but I only tell things that have worked for me in the past, and if I'm wrong I have no problems admitting that. I have run into people not on the web that tell me this that or the other is wrong and I should do this that or the other to correct it. I usually just tell them that if they want it done that way then they can pay for and do the work and until that day comes I'll fix the problems as they come up.
