someone educate me on if welding the spider gears is a good or bad idea. a friend of mine has a surburban with 44s . hes putting a 14bolt in rear and is debating on spending money on detroit or just welding it. truck doesnt see much road time so tire wear isnt a problem. but in general is it a good or bad idea
thanks

if he doesnt care about tire wear or street driving then he will be fine. instead of a detroit he could get a spool which does the same thing as having a welded rear for a lot less money than a detroit.

the only problem is it ruins the carrier and they are expensive carriers, I find that it also usually messes with the setup can warp the carrier, if the welds break you usually have a mess. But offroad only 14 bolts are tough if welded right it will be fine.

I have both 14 bolt spools and detroits in stock on special
Detroit-$389
Spool- $280
