My hobart 175 mig is actin up on me again, i was welding and had been for a little bit ie: 10 min or so when it stopped working as in stopped pushing wire out. Thought maybe it was the duty cycle thing kicking in so i let it sit tryed agin about 15 min later got it to work for maybe 60 sec and it stopped again. Let it sit for a bout 30 sec tryed again got it to work maybe 5 sec. So i still thought it was the duty cycle thing let it sit overnight came back the next day and still will only let me do about 60 sec until it stops pushing the line. Cracked her open check the spool all good no jamming, took off the main cover and watched the motor it will spin then all of a sudden just stop like the power is getting cut, then if you immediatly hit the button agian w/o letting it sit for more than a few seconds it will click like its trying to turn but won't. I figure maybe a relay is bad or something, if anybody has any suggestions that'd be great otherwise I guess i gotta see if the tech at northern here in Raleigh can do anything with it. Oh and I know the power source is good because I just keept welding using my buddies 250some mig after that.
Thanks

my lincoln 175 did that, turns out the cooling fan had stopped working. might want to check it

IIRC, ALL wire feed motor function is handled by the PCB... about $150 to replace. If you call Miller (they own Hobart) tech support, they will troubleshoot it with you. Very good support in my book!

So you lose power? Not just feed? We had an issue with a hobart 175, wire would just stop feeding, put a new liner in and no more problem.

Have you tried replacing the tip? Mine was doing the same thing one time, and it was just a little piece of slag/weld/crap/whatever that was about 1/4" down in the tip, where wire would push through, but occasionally jam as it dug in.

Back when I had a clarke 180 I had that happen. It was the wire speed potentiometer that had shitted out...so after searching 4 different radio shacks for the right one and some soldering, it worked again.

Then it got stolen.

Then I bought a hobart 175. :flipoff2:  I'm going to be pissed off if I have more problems.
