welding rear with limited slip?

ive got a buddy with an 8.8 and wants to weld it up. if it has limited slip, can you still weld it or do you have to get an open carrier? thanks

I would say it is not advised, but i have been beating on the welded 44 trac-lok in my jeep for over a year and it has held up. I do sometimes toss a spare carrier in the tow rig though. I have heard the issue with them (at least a d44) the thinner case itself. Pretty obvious when sitting one side by side with a non LS case.
