Anyone in Raleigh that can teach me how to weld? i have been wanting to learn and I cant work a community college class in to my work schedule. But i want to buy a welder and i dont know how or any thing about welders.

Buy a book best way to start is to educate your self

I know you said that a comm college class is hard to fit in (I assume Wake Tech is closest for you), but are you looking at the actual curriculum welding classes (liek for a career) or for continuin ed courses? Here, the con ed classes are offered at a few different times and are only 1 day a week. In the class I'm taking now, a handful of folks only come for part of the block of time (it's 4 hrs) just 'causet hey can't stay for all 4 hours, this is no problem.... class is essentially "learn through practice" style so you can work in your own schedule if you need to.

The best way is to have an experienced welder teach/mentor you. Books are ok, but provide no criticism and judgement. Teaching yourself is the worst possible - many piss poor techniques are learned by yourself. I can give you some pointers in my free time. My shop is in Apex and I have tons of scrap to practice on.

how much does that class at wake tech currently costing you Ratlabguy? I look on wake tech website but i cant figure out crap on it, its not very user friendly
