So I have my 78 J10. I need 1ton axles. So a dana 60 front, dana 70 or 14 bolt rear.
I would like to find as close as possible to my axle width now. I would me okay with 1/2 inch difference in width. My truck is wide as is, I do not want to make it so it is so wide it wont fit on the trails.
Drop doesnt matter as I am doing the engine swap.

Perhaps there are some other options I am missing? I know nothing about axles so anything will help!

Thanks ahead of time guys!

WMS to WMS on standard GM 1 tons is ~69" front and ~67" rear. That's about the same width as most full size axles. You'll be fine. You can always tailor your backspacing to get the width, or lack of, that you want.

1 ton fronts are 69" WMS-WMS. But you can run a Cab and chassis 14 bolt in the rear if you want a narrower rear. They are approx 63" wide WMS-WMS. J truck Dana 60 rears are 65" wide, but have funky tapered spindles that don't allow you to bore them safely for 35 spline shafts.
