The exhaust typically has to be rerouted with a long arm kit. Consequently it would be helpful to find a muffler that would fit within the confines of the reduced space you now have to work with thanks to the LA kit.

You looking for super quiet or you wanna go loud? Glasspacks are relatively small but kinda loud.

As big as the fawkin muffler is on a TJ, damn near anything aftermarket should be small enough.

My one on my junk is a Dynomax ultraflo welded... You can hear it in the videos, it's mello but throaty, and never loud.

As the title says, What is a good muffler to put on with the RE 4.5 Long arm lift? Anyone here have any reccomendations?

Thanks

you are from johnson city... that isn't too far away, you should come wheelin up in boone some time.

anyway, back to your question... I had mine straight piped for a lil while... with the 318 it sounded awesome, but it was too loud. After I got quite a few complaints I decided to slap a glass pack on there. It is cheap and it keeps everything legal for inspection; what more could you ask for?

agian, just about any muffler will work, OEM mufflers are huge. and you can reroute the pipes wherever you need to, if you have money there really arent too many limitations.

I would ask for your exhaust being quiet enough so people don't have to YELL when your vehicle is nearby, or your spotter, or someone noticing that you're about to slice a tire, or something similar?

A quiet exhaust is a good thing on the trail.

I've decided to put on a glasspack muffler. I heard one over the weekend at carolina rock shop on a rubicon with the 4.0 liter. I couldn't believe how quiet it was. I was expecting for my ears to bleed but it was just a nice growl when the engine started up? I cannot decide on the thrush, summit racing, or the flow tech red hots. Anyone have any experience with any of these, or have another suggestion

Ive got a glass pack on mine and the thing is damn near unbearable at low rpms on the trail. It sounds like ive got bad subwoofers pointed directly into the back of my head. If I were you Id go ahead and get a real muffler. As soon as I fix my radiator problems thats going to be the first thing that I do.

Which glass pack do you have on it? Is it really short or something. The one i looked at on the guys jeep was about 3.5-4.0 inches in diameter and about 18 inches long.

Glasspacks do get louder over time - just keep that in mind. ;)

why is that? my flowmaster got louder over time but it seems like that with all the carbon buildup and chit, it would get quieter if anything.

The fiberglass packing blows out....

My glasspack is about that size. Little better than a foot long and three inches wide or so at its biggest part. If you make it a habbit to really rail on this thing glass packs arnt going to last you very long. But then again there cheap as crap so you can just swap em out as they get to loud for ya. Doesnt flow master make a really short round muffler? I think Ive seen them for mustangs, but Im not sure what other applications they have.

no idea the brand...but the shop that Andy uses for exhaust and alignments used my factory tailpipe and replaced the muffler with this dandy little item:

I have a set of 1 chambers on my rig. They are small and compact, but kind of obnoctious. They sound pretty good though when I do a burn out at the car wash for the Ricers. I'm planning on redoing my exhaust after I swap engines and install the new headers. I'm going to go with Magnaflow's, much quieter when they need to be but still thoaty enough to sound good.

run a glass pack like i do. its loud but its legal and its small. Its not like it matters how loud you are on the trail.

Oh it was andy's idea by the way. and i thank him for it. That combined with the arb allows me to scare the hell out of ricers.

make sure you turn the glass pack to the quiet side, and give your self as much tail pip as you can and it should be quiet, but still sound good. Cherry bomb makes a good cheap one
