I was under my hood this morning trying to pull some hoses that needed to be replaced. While loosening a hose clamp on this part, the hose fitting broke clean off. Looks like I need to replace this thing, but I dont know what its called

I should know what its called... but I dont. Cant find mention or a picture of it in my Haynes manual either. Looks like some kind of junction for the cooling system. It has a few other hose attached to it, and a small vacuum line on one end. Can anyone tell me what this is and where I can get another one?

I'll try to dig up a camera and get a closer picture of it if no one can tell me from this one.

Thanks

Heater bypass valve. I think that is what it is called. It controls the flow of hot coolent to the heater core.

That looks like a flush kit someone installed, though the vacuum line really confuses me. Really hard to see in the picture. Get some close ups if possible.

That'd be the heater control valve which is electronic and threaded into the housing. (You can see it in the picture.) However, it could still be an older style vacuum controlled heater control valve that someone put in there for whatever reason.

May be able to bypass it all together and run straight hose.

Did a little more reading and it seem there was a heater bypass valve to stop the heater core from being hot all the time. (Though I thought this is what the heater control valve on the housing was supposed to do.) A lookup on the parts sites doesn't return this part for a 94.

That is what I told him it was. The vacume line comes from the in dash controler. It is not electronic in the older xj's. Runs off vacume.
