What power steering pump do you all recomend? I was(am) running the stock pump til the last trip to Tellico. Now it pukes all the fluid out as soon as I lock the front end and try to turn. Is PSC any good?
I am also going to do a hydro assist while swapping axles, should I just tap the current box or get a new high volume one.
Thanks!

psc makes high quality parts & can offer expert advice on ps system upgrades. imo use a high volume pump w/a box set up for hydro assist. it would also help to keep the ps fluid cooler w/ a remote res. a cooler in front of the rad and def. use syn. ps fluid ,the valvoline stuff works great & is half the cost of redline or royal purple. i did all of the above to keep mine from overheating & puking. but all is good now

hey steve, r u swapping out the axles in the yj? what r u going to run? what r u going to do with those dana 44s? my stock pump did the same thing with the tiny 33s i had, i put a new pump, added a cooler and it seemed to do fine after that. im going to run 36s now so we'll see how it holds up

Going full width, HP44 front and 14b rear. The d44's will probably end up in the wifes XJ.
Thanks for the info on the cooler, may put one on this wekend and see if it helps the cause for now.
Steve

hey, can i put my two cents worth in? if this is a trail rig, skip hydro assist and go strait to full hydro. ive done and seen both, wont even mess with assist anymore. will cost the same, too.( ok, maybe a little more) and, for anyone wanting to flame on me, no, im not saying getting used tractor parts, and building it redneck style. im saying, with some matching parts, youd be very happy. try pos ( performance offroad steering) and ask for shawn. off road, full hydro cannot be equalled. i had 600 in my setup, which is well worth it when you can actually steer on the rocks! if this is a street jeep, ignore everything i just said.

I don't know what kinda deal he cut you, but you're gonna spend about double that by the time you're done if you get new, good parts..

Thanks, but I do drive on the road once in a while. As with everything else, $$ are a a concern. For my use, the hydro assist will be a great upgrade for sure. Not sure I need full hydro at this time.
