and im clueless as to what i would need to go with it?? do i need some of those pretty red and blue fittings with the shiny fuel line or can i do rubber line with hose clamps? i plan on using a pusher electric fuel pump with it. its coming from summit
fuel cell

Are you running fuel injection? If so you will need a third fitting on the fuel cell. Out, return and vent. If not, no sweat.

Speedway Motors.com has good prices on fittings. You'll need those.

he's right. if you plan on running the fuel injection you'll need a third. you might also opt to have the bulkhead fittings at the bottom of the cell so that it's easier on the pump.

i had to buy 2 or 3 AN fittings and they get pricey. shop around.

when i drop my 401 in we are going to put the chevy TBI on it. is that gonna require the third hole?

its not set in stone to get that one i had a few similar ones in mind and i think one had the outlets on the side of the cell

there is also this cell i was lookin at in the 20 gallon size about the most i can afford its 210

You could just drill a hole in the poly tank for the vent. Run a fitting and hose off of it. That way it would cost less.

You "can" use a line T to return on a TBI setup.

It is not impossible to set up properly but is aggravating. Wouldnt say that I recommend it. Much easier to cut a vent like mentioned.

That is what I did with the plastic stock replacement tank in my rig when I installed an EFI motor. I actually drilled a hole for the return line since it had a nice factory vent rollover check valve setup.

I've never run an aluminum tank, but I have read many threads on the net about them cracking and leaking. Most of the failures are probably due to improper mounting, but still. You might want to reconsider the plastic.

ok, ill probably go with that aluminum one. says it has -8AN fittings. what is that?

Good info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN_thread

AN History: http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cach...INGS.pdf+an+fittings&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=4&gl=us

JIC and AN are 37 degree flare hose fittings for hoses that carry fluids. They seal where the male/female flare is pushed together by tightening the fitting threads. JIC (industrial) are availabe most anywhere that does hydraulic hoses, forklift repair places, some hardware stores. We have them where I work PT here in Greensboro, but I'm sure you can find them local. Go with the plastic tank, cut a hole and put a JIC bulkhead adapter in it for the return. My 2.

are you guys sure about the vent? on 2 fitting fuel cells those are typically circle track cells right? If that's so, then one is the fuel line and the other is a rollover valve aka vent. When I drilled mine I had to get a return line installed. All it was was a bulkhead fitting that allowed the excess fuel to return to the cell. one way to find out is just run it and if your fuel cell starts to look jiffy popish that means you're building up pressure inside it.

I was a dumbass and hooked the return line to the roll over valve the first time. :shaking:

thanks for the links and info. i believe my broke self will go with the plastic.

is it worth the 30 some bucks to get a filler neck for it ?

if its not a hassle i dont care, but i was thinking about mounting mine between the framerails at the back of the jeep letting whatever stick up thru the floor and then building a tire carrier around it to keep it from getting messed up and having the filler neck could hurt or help im not sure on my design yet
