What to do in Brevard?

I am heading to the Brevard area on Monday for work, specifically the Pisgah ranger district. I will probably be there for about 3 weeks. I dont know of anything to do for fun there but I do like to fish so I was hoping somebody could reccomend a local stream that has some smallmouth in it. Ive never fly fished before but I might take my dads fly rod for fun to give it a try. Also, are there any good bars or anything else to do?
 
Davidson River is a good place to fly fish for trout. Transylvania county is known for its water falls. I haven't fished many other places besides Davidson. If you go up toward the fish hatchery in Davidson, it's catch and release only. That's where the big fish are.
 
Davidson is good but you better bring your own rock. that place, IMO, is overrated. Look around the Davidson for other fishing spots and I think you'll be better off.

you're not far from Asheville. I'd just roll into town and enjoy.
 
Lots of cool bars restaurants live music pretty much every night in Ash-Vegas as us young folk like to call it. If you enjoy good beer & good food there is plenty of places like Barleys tap room great pizza Wild Wing has good.wings 12 bones has good ribs.
 
My office is at the entrance of pisgah forest in brevard. Hit me up and we'll grab lunch and I'll show you around Brevard.

Now saying that... I live in arden btw brevard/asheville. Asheville reminds me of a hippie new orleans on a weekend night. Always someone playing on the street corners, good beer and good food around every corner. No flashing boobs though :)

You can spend a lot of time downtown asheville but watch your $$ it can be expensive.
