I sold a f 100 on ebay and the guy that bought it is saying he cant title it because the frame has a different vi then the cab of the truck. I gave him the title for the truck that I got with it. I dont see why he cant title it why would it make a difference that the vin is not the same on the frame. Anyway he wants me to come to Fl and pick up the truck and give him his money back what should I do the truck was sold as is where is. I just sounds to me that he has changed his mind about wanting the truck after he bought it.

I call BS on getting it titled. FL is an easy state to get car paperwork done. As is says it all

he also emailed me early in the auction and wanted me to sell him some of the parts I had for the truck and when I told him that I would not part it out he wanted to know if he won could he just take the parts he wanted I told him he needed to take it all and now got this going on just lost on what to do I sold the truck to have the money to buy a new house so really dont have it to give it back to him

that is what a guy i work with said to no state inspections etc so he said bs too that is what I think also

He is not saying that he is going to file all this bs with ebay and is saying he will get his money back but i dont see how when it is as is where is

I believe the pickup fee and restocking fee should equal to the "sold" amount! This dude is jerking you around. Who the hell crawls under a truck and possibly raise the body to get to the vin stamp on a frame? Sounds like he either found parts elsewhere or changed out the parts he needed! How about wrecker fee to and from to pick it up? Ain't nothing free! I like the tune of oh say about $2.50-3.50 a mile, there and back!

yea i call it as he just changed his mind and wants to swap back....... likewise idk what to tell ya but i hope it works out in your favor

If your add on ebay stated "as is, where is" you are covered, IMO.

exactly, what I was thinking.

I don't know about FL, but I know NC is pretty easy to get stuff re-titled and regisatered. I know other states do in fact go over vehicles with a fine tooth comb, checking VINs in multiple places, etc. The yearly safety/emmissions inspection is totally different than the 'review' given by a state DMV inspector when re-titling a vehicle. So his story may have some merit, but defer back to what JC said.

Ditto.
he has no claim whatsoever.

Politely ask him to show you a link to wherei n the FL DMV code it says that he cannot title the truck. E.g. call his bluff and ask for proof.

I didn't know they stamped the frames back then. Hell, i have never even seen a VIN on a frame. Who the hell checks that stuff? The lady at the tag office in Elkin has never crawled under any of my shit to look for one.

Really does not matter if he can title it or not. The auction said as is where is and you provided a current title. I would tell him to go find a short bridge to take a long walk on.

When I lived in Florida, I got a truck titled with no problem. No inspection, didn't even run at the time. I call BS too.

Tell him to drind off the vin on the frame and then paint over it with flat black paint. That way there will not be a problem. Also why would the state check the vin on the frame? If they actually did, then take it to a different place to get a tag or title.

Some states have a rigorous inspection before they will issue a title, they have to see the VIN in a certain number of places, usually 1 on the chassis and at least 1 on the body. This inspection is done at the DMV office by a DMV officer, its not like you got to JimBob's Quick lube to get this done. NC is not one of htese states, and from the previous posts, it sounds like Florida is not either.

yes... but FL isn't oneof those states

MD sure as hell is - 2 hrs inspection, a virtual anal raping of your poor car.
F-ers failed me for having 1 strut leaking oil up under the rubber boot.

I think it really depends on what the guy told FL DMV. I bought a truck from a guy one time that he had started a frame off resto and had to change the cab. Which was ok with me but after paying him he said he wanted to make it legal? When I came back the next day he had DMV combing the truck showing them every part he changed. Long story made short I ended up with a salvage title. I still would like to ring that guys neck. I'm not sure of what your buyer can do but if it was sold as is where is you should be in the clear. It would have been even better to get him to sign a as is note. Good luck and Merry Christmas

isnt florida one of the states you DONT want to buy a care from because its so easy to get a clean title on a salvaged car?

I call BS as well. I live in FL and never had an issue at all. Didn't even have to have a notary to get a title. Tell him to pound sand.

I just think he got the parts he wanted swaped and that is that. He said he had a 70 that was 95% and just needed some of the parts and now all this bs.

Did you put any of the normal disclaimers on the ad? Where is the ad link?

I wouldn't be worried about all this and wouldn't be calling anyone about anything. You have your money and he has the truck and title. He came, looked at it, and completed the transaction (by taking it with him).

This is why all my ads have 2 pages of Egay disclaimer BS to keep idiots like this in check.

As is where is, kinda says it all.
I wouldn't worry
Note to self: Read all the fine print when buying from Mike! :flipoff2:

LOL Thanks chip. When I get home I'll post them up. Might help someone..

Just what I consider to be normal stuff. I cut/paste the whole block into the bottom of every ad I post. It protects me in case I forget to put something in the regular ad section. Actually I think my terms are pretty damn fare. Just says that I won't be subjected to ebay scammers and crack pots.
