what transmissions can I bolt up to a 5.0 302 motor

I am doing some research and have a 302 with an AOD tranny. I do not want to use the aod with a divorced t-case. Id rather use a transmission t-case out of a ford truck. What are my options, only a c6 and 205? Also, only way to get lower gears in the 205 is to make a doubler? TIA

Can I use a np435?
 
Yes the 435 will mount up but use a zf 5 speed and you will not have to worry about it. 203,205, 1356 ANY round 6 bolt Ford tcase will bolt up. 5.7 to 1 first gear plus OD if you need it. USually found in 86-93 F250 w/ 351 4x4.

I have been a part of 3 swaps including my own.

alright cool, so all 435s will bolt on, I am wondering more or less if this one will work... He says it has a 302 bellhousing but is not sure that it will fit a 302, he had it on a 351... http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=556269
 
unless you are very lucky you will not find a c6 to fit the 302 block..

That's a fact. There are only about 3 or 4 million of them scattered around scrapyards, hidden behind barns, or riding around on the roads and whatnot.

I can probably track you down one... but I'll want a $200 finder's fee... seeing as how they're so rare and all.

302 and 351W transmissions swap just fine... assuming we're talking about something that's less than 30 yrs old. The only real question is which bellhousing he's got... because there were hydraulic and mechanical clutch varieties, and the mechanical clutch ones aren't particularly useful.
 
PM JPScout for a C6 off a 302 We pulled one from a parts Bronco and KNOW it was working when pulled. He might sell it but like Saf said, it might hurt a bit.

Exactly what I was thinking.
AAMOF I think there are 2 such tranny's at my shop.
I know one has future plans the other I am unsure of. But it will most likely need a rebuild. Though it was running when pulleed I think its been sitting 2 years or so now...
 
This unit does in fact have the mechanical clutch. He told me that there is a kit to swap it over to hydraulic, anyone aware of this and what parts would be needed. Thanks- Richard

Exactly! .... I have a C6 behind my 302... bolted right up...

'93 Mustang 302 5.0L
'86 or '89 F150 C6
'79 F250 NP205

I actually bought the whole truck for $200. had been sitting for 2 years. Brand new rebuild on tranny w/ blown motor. (at first thought it was the tranny, fixed it and found out it was the motor)
 
I have a small bellhousing C6 if ya need it itll be at least 200 bucks though
 
Hi Franklin, I'm wanting to put a ford 302 into my Toyota 1994 4x4 Landcruiser, any ideas on what 5 speed manual gearbox I could use with out to much hassle. Regards

That sounds like a terrible idea.

I have experience with HDJ80s and 302 fords and unless you have a very well built engine and low range requirements, you're gonna hate it.

That said, the easiest would be to adapt your Yota bellhousing pattern to the ford one and run the Yota trans.
