With the aftermarket wheels and lack of undercarriage pics, its hard to tell if its widetrack or narrow. I'm guessing widetrack which would be 1982-86.
Why does it matter? Check the VIN if you really need to know.

Just trying to help a guy out online. It isn't for me and it's in Florida.

I think it is an 82-86. Looks like it has the plastic cover over the front frame and steering box

Yeah if I had to guees early 80's late 70's the steering wheel does not look like my 84 but is does look like my 78 and most likely Earl like your 78 as well.I know they used the same steering wheel as in the FSJ in 84

repaint, besttop aftermarket seats, bedliner

I wouldn't guess based on anything other than the axles/suspension

Probably 78 thru 81...It's a CJ7, so it has to be post-76, it has the unleaded fuel filler indent which I think came on in 78, and it appears to have NT axles (CJ went WIDE in 82).

Others more knowledegable can add or correct, but thought I'd try to help.

The shock towers look tall (wide track) Roll cage mounted to floor. I would say '82-'86 model CJ-7

I'm not up on my CJ trivia. Looks to me like an early '80's. You don't happen to know what engine it has? To be in Florida it appears to be in pretty good shape. Could be a good prize of the seller doesn't think its gold.

304 V8 ended around '79, most likely its an inline 6 258cid. AMC used 2 4 bangers in CJ7s, a 150cid and 151 cid I believe, one was a GM motor, the other an AMC.

the guy says it has a 6 cyl. and that it's in a salvage yard...I guess for sale.

Yep, only way to know for sure is to get the VIN and look at the 10th digit.

82-86 It has 5 bolt hubs- Wide track
