i know there were a crap load of rigs up there so bring on the pics!

Was it just me or did you feel like you were driving around on a paved trail? I think im going to have to wait for some rain and lots more trail traffic before heading back down there...

OR maybe next time i'll take the wife's Jetta....

And yeah there were tons of people out there and someone was broke on just about every trail...

Did they bulldoze everything over the winter? How did Daniel and RML look?

Joel, it was good just to get outdoors and hang out with friends but from a wheeling standpoint I feel like it was wasted gas money... I'll wait til later in the year and try it again.. or maybe after some rain.

Daniel was still Daniel and Kodak was still Kodak. They cut the tree down beside Kodak rock so now there is a new line. It was fun but not challenging if your locked. Other than that it seemed to me like everything was a groomed trail...

I guess I'll have to head back up to Tellico or Harlan to do some wheeling...

By the way is your jeep down here at CRS? Looked like it was on some new 36" Iroks....... IF it is you what else were you having done?

I am glad I went to Callalantee instead yesterday. :) I am equally glad to know that RML and Daniel didn't get bulldozed.

No, that isn't my Jeep down at CRS, that is Matt Gagen's (got4-lo). I believe he had Andy put in a Clayton hard arm kit, Ford 9", lockers, spacers and gears on the D30, new-to-him NV3550, 36" IROKS and maybe a few other things.

It was pretty good out there I thought. Came really close to rolling on Daniel and one of my buddies rolled his yota right above Kodak Rock (it was a lame roll). I think some of the Mud Devil's guys saw it.

I'm pretty sure I saw uncc civilengnr on Daniel... there was another c'kee and a few sami's behind him I believe. A c'kee from our group popped a rear driveshaft and that was the end of his day.

OR maybe next time i'll take the wife's Jetta....
Better yet, pick yourself up a stock Samurai for about $800. I took mine down there today for the first time and I had the most fun I have ever had down there.

Was it a 4 Runner? Geoff and I pulled up and there was one laying on its side winching back over.

I rushed out of the house and forgot my camera.:shaking:

pic's????????????????????????????

yeah they did alot of smothing out over the winter. my buddy in the white jeep never put it in 4x. like uncc said if you have lockers wait till it rains and some crowds tear it up a lil, but for us without lockers it was alright and it felt super good to be outdoors wheelin again.

Take off your lift and lockers and put on some street tires know that it is your only way home and to work and you have no cash to fix it. it will be fun again

Keep in mind URE has to work with EVERBODY, from a novice on a brand new 2 wheel drive quad to a rock buggy. Debra Walker the head ranger is trying open new trails and wants to have some hardcore trails for “jeeps” only. But she has to satisfy archeologists, environmentalists, endangered species both plant and wildlife, erosion control, and the federal government before she can open a new trails. The dozer goes thru and keeps the hill side from washing away that is why the bars are there. We try and leave Daniel alone as much as we can; Rocky mountain loop is the main trail so it has to be safe for quads and stockers. The new bypass at the rock garden is so it does not have to be dozed. We are trying to please about 10 different groups with every thing we do, so it has to make everybody happy. If you aren’t happy please come out on work weekends and help, we will listen to your ideas and try and implement them.

Will, my cherokee is my only car?

Mark, yeah I know Uwharrie has to please everyone. I also understand the erosion control measures. I'll just wait til later in the season and try it again. Some new trails would be great (maybe OHV only and not quads?)

were you at the big parkway on rml? there were some nice rigs sittin there.
if your talking to me, i saw ya'll at the first parking lot, you and the white xj... i'm not a jeep guy, but i love xj's... like yours and "uncccivil"'s black xj... but i was with the group of toy's....
one camo runner with ful exo and 38sx's, a truggy, and a red 89' on boggers "way too high"... oh and me and my flat black 89' stock DD:lol: lol i'll try to get pics up later today after class:beer:

ya thats what i was talking about. i got behind a toy pickup with a all pro flat bed following a FJ 40 on my way out. there were some nice toys running around. thanks for the xj compliment

I wish they would open up a new trail or two...the place really is no challenge at all for just about any stock 4wd with a novice driver at the wheel. However, I still go sometimes cause it's close

Where can I find a stock Sammie for $800 that comes intact? 'cause I'd buy it and do just that.

Yeah, full story to follow. The people at the Eldorado Outpost are fantastic with all the help they gave me. Lots of people also stopped by to chat and offer encouragement which helped take my mind off of being stranded. We finally rolled into E-city at about midnite thirty.
