Where are wave pools in NC?

As some know I like to surf - still thinking of moving the family to NC and was wondering if there were any wave pools for surfing in NC.

Anyone know of where they might be? Been thinking of the Charlotte area - but open to other areas as well.........

I hope this isn't going to help you determine whether or not to move here. I haven't heard of any here, I would be curious to hear of them as well.

ROFL - I knew that was coming.:lol: It isn't a determining factor of moving - just wondering if NC had any. Since consindering the Charlotte area - everyweekend driving to the beach isn't practical - nor logical with the swell seasons you have.

Googled it and came up with waterparks - but not for surfing.
 
You're gonna be sorely disappointed if you're used to CA surf. Right now there's a little swell, but it's usually really inconsistent, except for when it's shitty, which is usually always.

If you find a wave pool, lemme know.

I looked at all of those on my google search - none seemed to have "surfable" waves. Just crowded wave pools filled with people. Did I miss something on the websites?
 
no wave pools I know if, but we do have the worlds largest white water facility in Charlotte. Pretty freak'n cool too!

Past experience tells me you ain't gonna be happy looking for surf conditions in NC. Slater moved west w/ everybody else!

IF you can find the right places, you can get 3 footers on a regular basis, but not every day. ( I ain't takin' ..PM me and be nice...I MIGHT tell you.)

No doubt I have spent time on Big waves on the NC coast ... but they were few and far between. Night time usually find the best waves ..... I've stood on a pier and watched and timed perfect 3 wave sets....every 9 minutes...6 ft. plus.... only to hit the beach at dawn to glass.

The last big stuff I was on....waaay too many years ago...was storm swells. And you know how tuff that is.

best waves in NC are at Hatteras but that's a pretty good drive from anywhere since there is only one way there, NC 12. worth the trip though if you really wanna get constantly good waves. since the shoreline changes 90* there you can usually get waves either north or south depending on the wind. the wave conditions here very wind dependent. best bet is to get a longboard and a fish.

oh yeah, and also just south of hatteras is Frisco National Campground where you can drive your 4x4 on the beach with all your boards and drive to the good break.
 
Well at least you will not freese you ass off the water here is warm. Not sure how warm the water is in SO Cali but I'm from North Cali and it runs about 42-50 degrees.

I don't surf but I am really glad I made the move out here. there are some things I miss from Cali. but I do not miss the high house prices,high taxes,unfriendly people, Smog laws, Gun Laws, and in the summer in Cali everything is brown here it is green :D.

I went from a 1400sqft house on .14acres near a not so good part of town to a 2300sqft on .69 acres for less money in the country.

Those are some of the same reasons we are moving. BTW - water temps on SoCal range in the winter from 54* to 72+* in the summer. I used to make surfboards for a living - kinda hard to get it out of the blood.

I too am into guns - but let's not digress.:)

Just need to find a 1000 yard range out there.................
 
At least the water is warm here...

:edit: Nevermind, I see that mentioned already. The water is warmer here than in Socal in the summertime, that's for sure.
 
surf was head high and barreling at masonboro yesterday.

if you want a wave pool, your gonna have to build one.

...then invite me to come surf it
