I'm working a job in chapel hill and i'm not familiar with the area. One of the guys i have dropped my main set into the mud and we cannot find it. Are there any places or dealers around here that I can get a bobcat, deere, and cat key copied? I need them soon because i don't like only having one key when i have to share with my employees.

if legit...the answer is easy....

The fact that you ask the question is a bit suspicious in all honesty...contact your local distributor....

tit's legit, the stuff is mine. and a dealer would be fine with me. are there any in chapel hill or durham? I don't have the time to drive out to raleigh or greensboro

and my "local distributer" is in wilmington telling me to go to greensboro and i dont have the time right now

well your going to find out sooner or later so if your legit the answer is simple. Some one correct me if I'm wrong but each company has it's own key. Like my JD skid steer the key will fit any JD equipment if I'm not mistaken. Same w/ my ford tractor key. Don't know why cause that's ignorant on the company's part. It makes equipment easy to steal. I'm pretty sure Cat equip is same too.

Most diesel powered equipment is pretty easy to steal anyway...but as was said, it is a sketchily worded question and every mfr for the most part has a master key.

it's up to the equipment owner to rekey if they desire.

The purpose is one key fits multiple machines, if you have 10 pieces of Cat equipment, you have one key to keep track of, and the service tech doesn't have to hunt down the proper key to perform maint. on the equipment.

Think of all the companies that have equipment scattered about the state/country

so i reckon all our toyota forklifts have the same key? i had no idea. but then again i dont think the keys have ever been taken out of any of them, they all still have the two keys that they came with. one in the ingnition and the other on the keyring beside it

I know all of our Yale power equipment at lowe's uses the same key. Forklifts, starwars, order pickers, pallet jacks, etc.

yep, they'll only be different based on age or type, the pallet jacks and reach trucks use a Raymond key ( because they are rebadged Raymonds) depending on which SERIES 5,6,and early 7's use a single cut key ( metal bezel around the cyl ) late 7's and 8 Series use a double cut key ( plastic 8 sided nut around cyl )

We about got in trouble for moving a Cat pan one time. It was in our way for a project. Being resourceful (adult) Scouters, a Cat key was produced. The controls had a locking bar with a Master padlock, one of the other guys had a master key set from work for Master locks in his truck. Got it moved, and about a minute after we shut it down, a guy from the grading company drives up (that we had called a couple of days prior) to finally move it. He was confused more than irate as he didn't see us do it...but I think he kinda knew. The 3 guilty parties quickly de-assed the area, leaving him with a couple of others that had come up just before he did....they convinced him that 'somebody' else from the company must have come by and moved it.

there are at least 3 different keys for toyota straight mast forklifts and the bobcats will run on a CASE key of course. Go to your local equipment Rental yard and buy the keys you need for $5 a piece. If you own the equipment you should know this type of thing. sketchy.

I have a key to nearly every piece of construction equipment around. and CAT's require two keys to run/drive.

idk, it doesnt sound so sketchy if you reread it. he's asking where to get them copied, not get a whole new set of keys.

I wasn't asking what kind of place, i was asking where in chapel hill. no worries though the missing set was found this morning while digging thank goodness. i can't wait to get back to wilmington

doesn't sound that sketchy to me. If he already has a set, he could just steal the equipment with that set. Not like he is going to the dealer and saying, "I need a master key for this, this, and this..." I can sympathize with him on not wanting to drive to Greensboro to get some keys made.

it was the originals that were lost, all we had were copies made various places....ex. our bobcat key says freightliner on it, deer key is a honda key, only key that was real was cat, because you can only get them from the dealer. its not like i could just go to walmart and say copy this key for me....i was just asking where around here other than dealer could i go.
