I'm going to pick up some axles in the next couple weeks, found a D44 front and D60 rear out of a 78 F150. When I change the axles I want to put a long arm kit on as well, mainly bc I don't like/trust the suspension the way it's set up now. Where is a good place to buy one? I'm trying to stay below 2K.

ETA: This is for a 98 xj.

For ZJs and WJs I have always heard Clayton has the best long arms, but I am not 100% sure for XJs

claytons are good, also rock krawler. I'm planning on building my own long arms for my xj. I've got a 44/60 combo for sale if you are still looking for a set.

I'm currently looking into Full Traction 6", Rubicon Express 5.5", Rusty's 6.5", and Clayton's 6.5".

Ya'll take a look at them and help me decide, in the money saving process right now. Leave me some feedback if you've used any of them and what you liked/disliked about them. I'm leaning towards Rusty's because it's cheaper and bolt on, seeing how I dont have a welder.

Don't buy rusty's whatever you do.

That being said...it seems ridiculous to be swapping axles in and buying/using a marginal suspension made for a stock jeep and stock jeep axles. You're going to have to buy/build new brackets and perches for the axles to run them anyway--not to mention, the 78 f150 d44 has it's radius arm wedges cast into it rather than welded on. Considering the fact that every xj long arm kit out there is a radius arm suspension too, I would personally look into extending the ford arms, adding a heim at the rear end and running it as is.
Otherwise, since your nearby as well...I would pm tim/firetoy. He's good at xj's and building link suspensions.

I have a used Rusty's 6.5" longarm set-up for $500, no shocks, no rear springs.

braxton,
What's wrong with it?
